A lot of nice food places, night life is good. Clubs are a lot of fun but very packed. Quite a few places to go for entertainment and a lot of events going on.

Stoke on Trent has 2 main shopping city centres which are Hanley and Newcastle. Amongst these towns, you can find shops, restaurants and clubs. Socially, it’s a great area to live.

Not much to do in the city activity wise, Hanley isn't bad for shopping, and the prices aren't extortionate as a whole. However it is fairly close to bigger cities like Manchester or Birmingham so access to them isn't bad.

Lots of shops so a good day out shopping with friends or family. The market adds a nice touch to the town offering nice little independent stalls.

The city has its issues and isn’t that scenic, but sticking to areas on campus and surrounding isn’t too terrible. I feel safe, And there’s popular chain restaurants available.

Lots of places to eat and drink, loads of night venues of all different kinds. Buses are unreliable. Things are fairly priced

Stoke is an overall great place to live I currently study there at Staffordshire University I'm in my first year and have had a few great nights out in clubs like fiction and jinx bar both were amazing places friendly and close to university. I also am in love with there shopping centre situated right in the heart of Hanley with a food court, market and high end shops for everyone. They also have some great places for music and theatres such as regent theatre and sugarmill where mostly local and the occasional appearance of artists such as jake bugg, pale waves and the courteeners

The Potteries is best for shopping and eating, particularly Bon Pan Asian and Coast to Coast. Hanley is okay for a night out and has everything from a Wetherspoons to a casino.

I always find that there's a lot of food/cafe/ coffee shops around Hanley! There's plenty of places to go around Hanley or around stoke.

Very quiet city, not much to do and the night life isn't that great either. Shopping is the mot decent thing but even then shopping isn't fabulous. In terms of travel it's quite expensive.

They have the hive which is good for loads of different restaurants which is also close by to the cinema so you could grab a meal then a movie. Big into shopping centre with lots of different shops a big 24hr Tesco great for late night munchies. Also cabs are really cheap about £4 from the uni into the town Hanley but you can also walk there it takes about 20mins.

Night outs are great and the student nights are best, food in most restaurants are top class with the hive in hanley city centre filled with various food places to fill your stomach, shopping areas are filled in Stoke with festival park, into potteries shopping centre which has all the necessary shops, for both rich and for poor. Alton towers is right next to here and plenty of say activities are on for everyone to try out

A great city to live in with close walking distance to the train station, big food shops such as tesco and a town centre with lots of popular high street shops

The majority of Stoke is really nice; as it's home to 2 universities there's always plenty to do plus loads of student discounts. The Potteries shopping centre has everything you could need, and it's always handy having a 24 hour Tescos. I love how McDonald's delivers here too. If you go out at the weekend then you can have a good time, although drinks are pretty expensive. However, all the clubs are dead if you go out on a weekday. The only real downside is it doesnt feel very safe. There's a lot of crime and shady people walking around the area. Definitely wouldn't recommend going out alone at night.

There are only a couple of clubs so the nightlife isn't great. You can find most of the stores you want in Hanley but it's difficult if you live in Newcastle. The cinema is nice. All the seats are recliners. Bus tickets are way too expensive. It's not really a city I'd choose to live in after uni.

There's a lot to do in Stoke, one of the biggest attractions being Alton Towers obviously. But beside from that we have many other things, like amazing restaurants. For example Bon Pan Asia is a buffet in the city centre it's my favourite, close to it is also a wide range of shops in the potteries centre and the rest of the hive restaurants and cinema. It also a friendly place with fab people.

Lovely place although very busy at times, lots of activities to do and fun for all ages. Water world is an extremely exciting day out with friends or family although the transport in the city needs a little work at peak times.

There's amaizng shops here as well as lots of food outlets, I love how clean and tidy the place is and how helpful everyone is

The university campus is a 20 minute walk from the town centre where there is an intu shopping centre, bowling, cinema and a wide range of restaurants serving a variety of food. On campus the Student Union operate 2 bars Verve and Ember Lounge which host events such as karaoke and themed nights out. Next door to campus is the train station meaning transport up and down the county is extremely accessible.

Only 2 good nights to go out a week and even then not very good. Literally one good club and nothing even starts until after 11pm which is ridiculous as someone coming from Leeds. Good value for money as it is fairly cheap to get around as everything is close. There isn’t much to eat on campus that isn’t the horrible uni food or takeaway so it is hard to be healthy, the Only healthy option really is a subway and it gets tired after a while but if you make your own food/ live on campus it’s ok. The shopping is getting better as new shops are surfacing all the time and I genuinely think Hanley is developing into a decent place to shop.

It's very boring and quiet with not much to do, and there's no jobs available for students so you can't really work

It really is just an underwhelming town, not much choice in ‘different’ places to eat out, far from the actual uni to get to (Keele) so not incredibly worth the travel. This was the main reason I transferred unis for next year.

Stoke has a community feel. The shopping hasn’t got a wide variety of big shops but has a shopping centre. With the food oatcakes are a good part. There isn’t much to do however and there is not a lot of choice with clubs on nights out and where to go. Clubs are quite expensive for what they are. There needs to be a club with more than one room. It is getting better for niche cafes but more like this would be good. The choice of restaurants is good now due to the new complex opened up in Hanley. There is few things to do, not much new things just the same activity in different places.

Keele university is located in the country side and so is very hard to go shopping, and find places to eat out, even though the busses are regular they take the lpngest route to the town centre. However, there are good events that take plave at uni which helps with nightlife entertainment.
