Although on the outside Polwarth House might not look like much, it helped provide me with one of the best years of my life. With it being extremely central on campus I was able to literally ‘roll out of bed and into the classroom’, and had close walking access to all the facilities the university had to offer such as the gym, the swimming pool, the atrium, and all the lecture classes and theatres. Out of all the accommodation at the University, Polwarth House is one of the cheapest, and although it is a great accommodation building, this factor does show. As the same with other buildings there is no en-suites and therefore everyone living in the flat has to share the toilet(s) and shower(s). However, each room does have their own hand basin, and this was extremely helpful throughout the stay. There is also no set living room in each flat, only the kitchen with a dining table and chairs. Despite these negatives, Polwarth was a lively enjoyable place to spend my first year away from home and was sad in the day I moved out.

Poverty Polwarth. It does the job. The walls and windows bare thin, so be ready to hear everything inside and out of the building. We like to talk badly of our building, but in reality it's not that bad. All university halls are over priced no matter where you go, you pay for the comfort of being serrounded by students. Things break; often. When the fire alarm goes off, security don't check for a fire, they reset the alarm. That is probably my biggest issue. We see that rich buildings get checked every time, ours hasn't been checked once. The people I've met here are the best I could ask for. Being a part of our very own laughing stock as brought us all closer. Polwarth is a diamond in the rough.

Very basic room with no drawers for clothes. Kitchen is insufficient as the fridge and freezer are too small for 6 people to share.

The location of the halls is great, close to laundry and right across from one of the campus restaurants, which is great for date nighy. The facilities aren’t too bad, the shared toilet is a bit tight at times especially when you need to toilet and your flat mates are in there. However everyone is really friendly and I have friends on a few floors and in different flats. It’s not the halls that make your uni experience, it’s the people
