St Andrews

St. Andrews is a really nice small town. It's very calm and it's easy to walk around. Food is really good, there are few restaurants but you can find the majority of the cuisine that you want. Shopping is a bit limited as there is no shopping mall so you have to make do with what you can find in town. There are few nice bars and pubs that are great for a night out! Transport is good but there is no real need for it! By walking 30 minutes you can get from one end to the other. However, the weather sometimes makes you want to stay inside and not go out!

The pituresque town of St Andrews is a unique experience of university life. From the stunning Scottish scenery of the beaches and pier to the historical sites of the castle and cathedral, St Andrews provides an opportunity to engage with both the past and the present. A wide array of quanit cafes, book stores and community events to get lost in compensates the lack of big shopping centres and city life. Although notoriously expensive in many ways, the life style and unique experience of St Andrews makes it an unforgettable university experience.

The town is not very big but there’s still plenty of things to do. It’s very close to Dundee and an hour away from Edinburgh. All the nearby towns are lovely. A bit of a pain to travel to Leuchars every time though since it’s the nearest train station.

The nightlife isnt that great, but it makes you value the people so much more. The accommodation is very expensive for what it is, but the traditions and the community feel makes a great difference. Overall the four years that I had spent there were amazing and I would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful surroundings, quaint town set on a dramatic coastline. Great for coastal walks and beachside runs. Good selection of independent restaurants. It is inconvenient not having a train station in the town however, and the library is not large enough to accommodate the increasing numbers of students. There is also a limited selection of places to go on a night out. The nights out provided are fun however.

Whilst St Andrews is a beautiful coastal town it is to always be noted that the town is a very small one so it is only to be expected to be lacking in certain amenities.

BEAUTIFUL by the sea, lovely beach, gorgeous ruins, cute town, etc etc. Transport links are hard though - no train station ;(. Can be tough to escape the bubble, but then again, who would want to?
