Fife Park

I really like living at Fife Park. I know it's not the most popular choice and the long walk can definitely be a pain, but the flats are so nice. The beds are all doubles, the room's have private bathrooms, and the shared kitchens and living space is nice. The social experience is great if you like your flatmates and know people who live nearby, but if you're not on a dining plan and you don't hang out in the reception area a lot you don't really meet other people as much. I personally like walking so most of the time I don't mind the distance I'm happy to have that time -- it's good exercise and I get through a ton of audiobooks -- but it does take up a lot of time. Buses are a good alternative and the weekly pass is about £9 for students, which gets you unlimited rides in the St Andrews area.

The buildings are really nice and comfortable to stay in, and I liked the convenience of having a kitchen. However, the hall is quite far away from other university buildings and the town and even the buildings that make up the hall themselves are quite spread out. This means the hall doesn't feel as communal as other halls - you don't see the same people in the corridor or at lunch every day for instance. That being said, a lot of the social events are quite good (DRA Ball a favourite).

Expensive and the catered food provided is largely very poor - a decent number of dishes to choose from but none of it tasting very nice. The rooms and kitchen and toilets are all nice - very new, modern and light. The bathrooms specifically are lush, with underfloor heating and nice coloured tiling. The 20 minute walk to town is frustrating in such a small town, but the social experience within DRAFP makes up for it.

Location is pretty awful as it is furthest from the centre of town but this does make it quiet and not too far from the physics and maths departments. Social experience is pretty awful too as you will rarely see or speak to anyone apart from your 4 flatmates. Floors don’t mix, flats don’t mix either. The rooms in Fife Park are really nice as they’re brand new. Lots of storage, furnished well, all the facilities you’d need. Needs an on campus shop for fife park and DRA.
