The nights out are pretty good, ranging from cheap drinks depending on the day to some other organised events. The shopping is also good but it's all in one concentrated area, though there's a nice charity shop area as well. In terms of value for money it really depends where you go and what kind of things you like to look for.

Very vibrant city with great night life and lots of green space. Also love the shopping mall and there is lots of things to do.

A lot of nice restaurants in the area, including easy access to the main centre from the railway station. Shopping is very accessible and a lot of the main brands available.

The choices of restraunts there are incredible, loads of options including Italian, American and more! The night life and activities are even better with nice lights and nice people! Definitely somewhere I like to go a lot as there are plenty of shopping places to go!

Southampton is a vibrant city but can be too busy at times, especially with emergency services. West Quay is the highlight of Southampton.

Personally I think it’s great living in the city and my halls are so close by so I have everything with a five minute walk distance. It’s so different from where I live at home because you can do anything spontaneously, for example, if you randomly want to order deliveroo or Uber eats you can, or if you randomly decide with your mates that you want to go out clubbing that night you can because you don’t have to find lifts there and back like a lot of other places.

Having the university in the centre of the city os the best thing because whenever we have a break we can enjoy a meal in Nando’s or just have a drink in one of the many pubs there are. The party is good as well and there are clubs for everyone and every type of music. Overall I think Southampton is one of the best cities to study.

I don't really nights out but do go eating some where which always closed before I reach there. The food is mostly Chinese, Thai, and plain Western food. Chinese food is quite the same and not that vary but somes are (with greater cost). Thai food with authentical one is not shown here, mostly fusion but still good. The western food here is quite plain for some reason I don't know. The food portion is small compare to price we paid (mostly Western food). Some restaurants are good but too few. Here, we don't have many interesting things to do and also shopping center don't have some brand I wanted and also some good items are not shown here but others city. The supermarkets do have variety of food which is good for international student. There are many pizza restaurant here but with lower price but the taste is not as good as Domino's which I think in my country it has even better than Domino's. Besides, I and all of my friends thought that cooking ourselves is better than eating out in both values and taste. People here is quite nice, they are greeting and helping each others a lot. This city is quite windy and I would love it if it is in summer, but winter it is the worst. One thing I like is that this city is not too cold like others. The transportation is quite good too though sometimes it just disappeared from the screen before it reach my bus stop. Here, people are not crowded which is good for traveling and studying. I would love to eat good restaurant with seafood as it is the maritime city but here is not famous for that compare to others near the coast. I think Southampton is good for refreshing ourselves from work, except that we, student, work all the time.

Southampton is a great student town, there's plenty of nightlife and shopping however not much else to do other than this. They've just build a new complex with lots of reateuants and an amazing cinema which is cool. It's a little frustrating that we're by the sea but there's no beach, Southampton is a lot of industry. However I would highly reccomend the university as a great place for students to be. The uni is great and has loads to to get involved in and tons going on. People are friendly and there's a nice community.

Lots to do with most things within reasonable walking distance. Large shopping centre close to Solent student residences.

Really lovely city to spend three years in. It's big enough to have everything you need but not so big that it's too much.

Clubs are great, massive variety of food and drinks places and reliable public transport. Not expensive at all.

Nights out are 10/10 in Southampton 1. Great discounted entry to clubs like Switch and the last standing Oceana on Tuesdays (cheeky tuesdays) and student therapy Wednesdays, good happy hours almost everywhere, and an array of bars Inc. Revolution, Turtle Bay and some good pubs e.g. the Hobbit. Eating is great- all main restaurants included on uni days like Zizzis, pizza express, harry ramsdens, five guys etc. Shopping at West quay is also really good - they have a huge floor for food, John Lewis and a big high street.

Southampton is generally a great place. The nightlife is superior to most cities across the UK, with a diverse range of clubs attracting a whole host of scenes and artists. It's compact layout means you're never more than 20mins away from anything. With two universities the city's dynamic culture is continuated through a healthy population that integrates well with the students. Additionally, the common provides a great place to relax and unwind during the summer.

Love it in Southampton. Great place for uni. Great place to live as a student. Portswood high street has all the necessities - like many many takeaways as well as 4 much needed supermarkets. And it's not even far from uni!

It's amazing and calming, everyone is nice. Loads of students around. Many restaurants to chose and eat at as well and fast food and take aways. It has 2 shopping malls which is nice. however there is not many stores to shop at but it has the basic fashion stores such as Topshop, Zara, New Look, Primark and Urban Outfitters. Visiting Southampton is worth the Money as its near the sea and very close to New Forest which is a must visit.

Southampton has a brilliant night life, as well as the shops being affordable on the high street and the new shopping district.

lots to do, very vibrant, good music scene, might need more arts, but good events, love the city centre, seems to be a lot of buses

up and coming, good night life, like the city centre a lot as there's a lot to do, good music and events, needs more art, but there is a lot already

Lots to do, places to eat, shopping - all quite cheap too. Deliveroo operate in the area which is really appealing

Southampton is a lot of fun. Although there are the popular places to go for nights out, because there are so many bars/clubs, you can mix it up a great deal. Loads of shops, loads of resteraunts, and alot of leisure activities available.

Nice place, lots of greenery and nice places to go for walks, of course the Common. Good shopping and food places in town and good for a night out too. Unfortunately there's quite a lot of rats around the parks in town but not too bad

The city is easy to navigate. Buses go everywhere and a day rider is cheap. Westquay has everything you need and the nights out on portswood are great.

Good for students. Small enough city and everything is close by. Not a lot to do except eat out and party. But London , new forest and beaches not far away to spend the day
