The location is prime for the uni, close enough to walk in the summer but only a couple of minutes on the bus which means more precious minutes in bed. The halls include a bus pass include in the price which is perfect for the winter when you don’t want to walk! When you think of student living, you automatically think of cheap and basic living, and that is what you get. The rooms are bigger than expected and the Ensuite is sizeable but the kitchen is small in comparison to the other halls. Many times you will encounter bugs, but how many times you encounter them can be reduced by keeping the areas clean. In terms of location in relation to nightlife, it is one of the further halls - meaning it requires a bus or taxi journey for all clubs. If you consider yourself a party animal than you may want to consider this as the cost of taxi’s 5 times a week will sure add up! One of the best things about Wessex are the people, it’s a very communal hall and everyone that has stayed at Wessex have said the same things - the people you meet are friends for life! Block parties are frequent and lay out of the blocks mean that your always running into people and making new friends. Overall, my experience at Wessex has been positive. The facilities were basic but adequate, nothing special but I’ve seen worse. The location was great for me, as I enjoy a few more minutes in bed in the morning and splitting taxi’s from clubs make nights out cheaper!
