The rooms are very nice. The desk is large and the bathroom is very nice with a powerful shower and a nice size. The only thing is It can flood the floor if you're not careful. The facilities are decent but the best part is the location. There is a coop in the building and another down the road. The train station is just down the road. Asda is the other way. The town centre is a ten minute walk. There is a gym in the building as well as over the road.

It was close to the town and Westquay shopping centre which was great for weekends and food shopping as all in walking distance of 5 minutes. Lovely rooms and short distant from docks and clubs very central. However it is 20minute bus journey to campus but in first year you receive a free bus pass so no extra cost and so close to many things in Southampton. Would highly recommend. Never lonely or had nothing to do.

My room was very nice, with en suite and a very nice shower, the kitchen was average sized but not much of a living area. The higher levels get very hot especially in the summer. All the staff are very nice and I felt very comfortable living here

Mayflower are modern, spacious and vibrant halls. Located in the cultural quarter of Southampton, there are many events and facilities nearby. Everything is in walking distance and the bus to university is only 20 minutes. The halls boast a gym and a store right beneath one of the blocks. The social experience is incredible here, everyone is very friendly and doors are always left open. The kitchens are the perfect size to host parties. The rooms are all en-suite which is great for privacy, they are all a nice size with lots of natural lighting and creative space to work.

The location is really good if you prefer being close to the city centre. The only problem is you have to take 15-20 minute bus ride to the campus. Rooms are of moderate size and comfortable enough.

Had a great experience at mayflower, everything was fun and friendly. There was loads of activities to get involved with each week that enhanced my experience, my room was a decent size and I enjoyed my experience throughout the year. The location was great as it was situated in the city centre, close to all shops and clubs, the halls offered a free bus pass to travel which became extremely useful throughout the year.

Good room, big kitchens but rooms were way too hot and couldn’t open any of the windows. Good to have kitchens cleaned by staff every few days

Rooms were very nice, and kitchen and communal areas were cleaned multiple times per week. Mayflower is the farthest hall from Uni campus, but a free bus pass is included and buses run to campus every 7 mins during the day from right outside the halls. The city centre location was ideal, which allowed us to explore Southampton a lot more than students from the other halls. The study area in block C is a great place to work, and I used it a lot during the summer exam period. My flat had some trouble with water flowing back up our sink - we were on the ground floor and the main pipe for us and all of the flats above us got blocked - but this was sorted and didn't happen again. Another problem with being on the ground floor was the noise of people walking past my window at night, although security were there 24hrs to move people on if they were loud. My friends from the other side of the block found that their rooms got very warm in the mornings when the Sun shone straight at their windows. At some times it felt like MF was less of a community than other halls might be, because of the scale of the place and the fact that most people don't use the common rooms. If you're confident meeting new people from different flats you'll make lots of friends, but if you lack this you might feel oddly lonely at times. The main thing that attracted me to MF was the gym, and this was really useful to have! I still prefer MF gym to the one on campus, and having it so close meant i had no excuse not to use it.

Best rooms of all the halls (maybe apart from the new glen eyre rooms and chamberlain) The rooms are spacious and cleaner than most. socially it’s lacking a bit because you cannot prop flat doors open to allow people to mix with ease but location makes up for this as all clubs and bars are very close

Nicest rooms out of the lot in terms of cleanliness and space i’d say, alongside the newest glen halls such as chamberlain. Reception services are great, they’ll sort out any issues you have asap, without the hassle. The social atmosphere however lacks in comparison to other halls, i feel this is because you can’t prop open doors, making it harder to socialise with other flats and about 2/3rds of mayflower are international students who face a language barrier when it comes to socialising. The location however is perfect for getting about southampton, in the heart of the city centre it’s easy to access clubs, shops, pubs and restaurants - DEFO A BONUS WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD SHOPPING (as other halls have to take a bus to get shopping)

Unlike other halls, it's locate right in the centre. Everything is in walkable distance, such as train station, shopping malls, Asda, Ikea, gym, restaurants etc. It's brand new and comfortable. Stayed there in first year and rented a house in second year. Regret the house so much so I went back to Mayflower again third year. The only downsides are the increasing prices and noise level. The hall fees are definitely not the cheapest (probably the most expensive in Southampton) but they are okay compared to similar student accommodation in other cities. The noise level can vary depending on the direction of your room (facing the courtyard or the street) and the block you are staying in. Be sure to ask for advice when requesting for specific block to stay.

I stayed in Mayflower during the first year that it opened (2014/15). The building itself is a nice design with good sized flats. The presence of an en suite was important for me although you obviously pay more than other halls for this luxury. The gym is very ideal (although didn't open until the end of my year) but I do still attend it despite living in private rented accommodation. It is a well located halls next to west quay and some clubs.

What i like most about the halls is that everything is super close. I have asda 5 minuted away however there is a cheaper alternative such as Lidl, still quite near. The social aspects amazng- all the clubs are super close so I don't have to spend money on taxis. The halls are modern, and the bathrooms are very nice
