Glen Eyre

The rooms were decent in size and had a great amount of storage space in them. However, the section I lived in was very old and needed some repairs. The location was very good as it was only a short walk from campus, making it easy to get to university.

New terrace. Old building, better facilities for a similar price at Chamberlain. Glen eyre is nice as a whole, everything is close, everyone knows everyone. Handy having an ensuite and your own space However, there is no common room/ living room so makes it hard to socialise- don't always want to be in the kitchen. There also aren't any TVs. Reception staff can be rude.

Chamberlain Halls Good as close to uni 10 minutes walk Bad as too quite and not enough going on during the day / evening Good size bedroom with queen single bed and en suite. New Halls kept very clean Room sizes of 8 to 10 people 2 flats per floor but bad as only 50 students per building 5 blocks with separate access keys Large common room area with huge TVs

Cleaners are always good and the halls are a good location from the university but far away from everything else, the hot water is always going off, poor Wi-Fi, there is social spaces but no one uses them, reception are often rude and maintenance men have locked me out of my room a couple of times, and if I get locked out three times I get charged which is stupid.

Best people ever Worst WiFi ever Radiator never worked Really bad oven with no heat settings Badly laid out kitchen Broken security door Shower flooded every day Tiny bed Mouldy shower curtain Good sized desk Loads of storage space

I had an ensuite room and it flooded literally every time you showered because the floor was the same level throughout the entire room, the shower curtain was gross and stuck to you all the time, the radiators never worked and there were only single beds which were tiny. The security door to the block never worked so anyone could have come in whenever they wanted. The kitchen was tiny and The oven had no heat settings written on it so you just had to Cooke everything on full heat and hope for the best. The WiFi was so bad. Only good thing was the area and the people

Glen Eyre is a good location for halls as it is less than a 15 minute walk downhill to university. There are also lots of halls blocks so it is easy to meet people and visit friends in other blocks. Brunei Hall is a small block tucked in the corner of Glen Eyre. It has quite small rooms and tiny kitchens for 7-9 people; however there is a great sense of community within the block and between the different flats.

I like that the blocks make you socialise with other blocks. The pit in the middle is great for meeting up before events too! Rooms are a great size but it is unnecessary space, no reason to have a single bed; for the price and space you could easily have put in a double. Kitchen sizes of 4 and said kitchens are way too small to be comfortable. Two showers and two toilets between four people, never once had a problem this is an excellent feature! Only a 5 minute walk from campus and a bus stop two minutes away.

Good location for the university but quite far from town. Helpful reception staff. Gym facilities however only machines now free weights. Laundry close by

The facilities are average. Room with an en suite. The social experience is poor, a quiet set of halls.

My room was left open twice after people to work in it. Highly unsafe and then I was blamed to have left it open. It's a beautiful place to stay with a lot of greenery but the carelessness really disappointed me

Location is right next to the uni, I love my room- it is a good size and shape. It’s slightly overpriced, not near town or the clubs but you get a free bus pass in first year. I’ve found a good social experience through flat mates, course friends and societies. But I wouldn’t say my halls are that sociable, people are here to work.

Great social atmosphere as there are so many various blocks which a large amount of my course mates live in so it's easy to meet up with them to walk to lectures. My particular block is really close to the laundry room and reception too which is extremely handy. The only downsides I have found living here for the semester I have been here so far is that some of the staff are rude and passive-aggressive. When we first came in to our particular flat, the oven nor hob wasn't working and so, of course, we sent multiple maintenance requests. It took until the Thursday of freshers week for it all to be fixed and at the end of it all we were left a passive aggressive note by the maintenance man. I've also found that the staff manning reception can be equally as rude sometimes too and sometimes a little useless. Of course, the fact that our oven wasn't working and it took them so long to fix it is why I'm giving the accommodation only 4 stars as opposed to 5. Overall though, once our oven was fixed, we've had minimal issues and if they have arose, staff have been quick to fix them.

Glen Eyre location is fabulous. Richard Newitt Courts specifically are quite old and antisocial. The kitchens aren’t really worth the money and terrible for hosting.

The social experience is outstanding, I have made friends with a lot of my neighbours and I get on very well with everyone else. It is a very unique experience that I have never experienced before, something definitely worth doing if a teenager. The facilities are pretty good, the common room has a PS4 which could be lended out and I played games with some friends a few times, very good way to relax and socialise that doesn't involve drinking. However my room is something I wasn't completely happy with, everything is descent apparatus from one deal-breaker for myself - faulty heating. At one point the room was being heated to the extent I couldn't sleep, with all the radiators turned off they still have off a lot of heat, and the exposed pipes contributed to the problem. The very nice and polite service team attempted to deal with the problem, but they took a few days to get there. Unfortunately the solution didn't suit my need either, as the heating was turned completely off and it was very cold in the whole flat for a few days. Otherwise than that, the room and the flat is descent, kitchen door was coming off its hinges, the kitchen sink wasn't working for a week and the carpets are a bit... Old and used I guess would be the way to describe them (after all Orchard Newitt is the one of the oldest accomodations in Southampton apparently, and it even used to be a military site). Overall, quite a mixed cocktail of experiences, mostly good with some major issues here and there.
