Sheffield is the best city for any type of student, being the birth place of football, bassline, the arctic monkeys you can't get bored. The city has a lively centre and some amazing clubs and bars, yet also has the peak district on it's door step. There are fantastic museums, librarys, green spaces (lots of them!) and it'll feel like home very quickly. It's literally a fact that a high percentage of students do stay in Sheffield and build their lives here! Also, it's cheap as chips.

Sheffield is a lovely, small city full of very friendly people. It's not too busy, but it's not quiet either, at least it's not when students are here. When students go home, the city centre is rather quiet and can be quite boring. However, most of the time it is a lively place with lots of events on, whether this be art workshops, exhibitions at museums, events held in the park, restaurants and cafes, bars, pubs and clubs, or tramlines festival ! The shopping precinct is a bit lacked, but Meadowhall, a huge shopping centre, is only a train / tram ride away. Sheffield also has little independent shops to visit, which is always nice as they sell homemade or vintage items. It could do with more entertainment in the form of bowling, adult crazy golf, etc. But it does have a cinema in the centre and a complex called centertainment again just a train / tram ride away

Sheffield is an excellent city for nights out with almost every kind of music you could imagine playing at some point throughout the week somewhere in the city ( though you do have to look harder for edgier/ quirky venues) The restaurant scene is massively diverse and has a good range of places to choose from. There isn't as many solely vegan or vegetarian places as one would hope but almost everywhere has a decent few options for vegans/ vegetarians. There are plenty of high street fashion brands and more interesting hipstery shops, as well as the wonderful and more affordable moor market.

Feels like quite a dangerous city, there is a lot of homeless people. City is broken up into parts and there isn't much in the centre as all the shops are at Meadowhall

Favourite city! The people are friendly, the transport is great, the city centre has everything you need. You also have the benefit of the beautiful countryside that not a lot of other cities have. Love it - no place like home :)

Sheffield is a great city for students. It's got everything you need, sprinkled with hipster character and it's easy to get around. Obviously the Peak District is practically on your door step. There are also other parks such as Botanical Gardens which make it the greenest city!! For all the hipsters, Division Street is the place to go. Steam Yard Coffee, Plantology and Mooch Vintage shops are some favourites. There are also some great faith groups in Sheffield. For me, attending Hope City Church was a big highlight of my time at university.

There are so many places to eat delicious food, so many shops to buy a variety of clothes from and so many bars and clubs to enjoy a wild night out. Sheffield is just great!

Sheffield is a great city to live in for young people leaving home for the first time! It's small enough not to feel overwhelmed, but big enough to have plenty of room to explore! With train links to all the other major cities in the UK, it is beyond easy to venture further afield if you want to. Filled with independent businesses, including bars, cafes and an array of vintage shops.

Great night life, lots to choose from with regards to food & most restaurants offer deals and offers to reduce the cost of your meal. Transport is ok - the tram & busses covers most of Sheffield but taxis can be more expensive than elsewhere. The town Center has lots of shops & Meadowhall is accessible via tram or bus from the town Center.

Sheffield is such a friendly vibrant city, it's great because it's still got all the great elements of a city with the shopping, night life etc however it's still small enough in the city centre to feel comfortable and know your way round. Really loved living here so far!

Sheffield town centre has great food and shopping areas, there's something for everyone but then there's also lots of countryside/parks for when you want a nice chill in summer! The Moore market is interesting to go and visit, there is also a huge shopping mall called Meadowhall where there's a cinema, restaurants and an amazing student lock in once a year!

The reasons I love sheffield; it's a city with a town type feel, everyone is really friendly and there's always a stranger up for a chat, its easy to get around on public transport and feels safe, it's cheaper than a lot of other cities for socialising, there's loads of free activities to do, it's massively close to the peak district to get away from it all, there's loads of decent parks if you can't be doing with the 20 minute drive to the peaks, the nightlife is great and all the bars are really close together!

I have lived in Sheffield all my life and love it so much that I chose to go to Sheffield Hallam University. There is so much to do in the city, with something to suit everyone. The nightlife is also very good, with something good to go to every night no matter what your music taste! Sheffield is also very cheap, particularly drinks prices which is ideal on a night out!

I decided to go to university in Sheffield due to its charm "steel city" the mix of industrial and modern is really intriguing to me. Also another pull factor is the vintage shops along west street and Meadowhall not to far on the tram so lots of options for shopping. The nightlife has lots to offer and is varied whilst being reasonably cheap so there is something to please everyone However , the city is pretty small and sometimes I struggle to find things to do.

Very innovative idea. It especially benefits students who live on a budget and want to eat some good food every once in a while. It is totally worth it and I don't see why anyone wouldn't give it a go.

The City of Sheffield is brilliant! The people are really friendly, and there is a great sense of community. There is a great art and music scene, with plenty of street art, galleries, pub and clubs. The city is tailored for students and the Halls and student accommodation is in the right areas, and close to the city centre. I love Sheffield, and so do my friends. We have an extensive bucket list, and trying to tick them all off! We don't ever want to leave!!!

Sheffield is such a good 'party' and 'lively' city from the great night outs to the food and shopping centres. There's everything and more you need in Sheffield from things to do on rainy days to sunny days. Things from getting over a break up to dates.
