Salford

There is plenty going on around campus, especially at the Media City Campus. For media/journalism students especially, Salford Uni is in an amazing location. And, you can get a free boat into Manchester city centre nearby if you're student of Salford. There are nearby bars that always have a good atmosphere, and an average price considering the location.

With being just a 20 minute walk into Manchester city centre the University of Salford has the best options for students in terms of nightlife, eating out, activities and experiencing Manchester's unique and varied culture. A downside is that being in a city centre isnt cheap unless there are student deals on, but personally I still love the bustle of city life and all the opportunities on your doorstep. The only concern is the crime rate around Salford and the lack of security around the University, this really needs to be stepped up as it is common to hear of muggings and attacks in the area.

The University of Salford is great if you want to be near the centre of Manchester, without living right amongst it all. It’s a walk away from the university, meaning you have amazing bars/clubs, restaurants and so many other exciting things right on your doorstep!

Not far from the city centre with all the clubs. Also close to Media City and transport links. Salford has its own shopping centre and everything you could possibly need is within walking distance.

I chose this location to study in because for my course it had the best potential and resources available, as I do journalism it is amazing to study right in the middle of Media City along all the great industry professionals. The area of Salford away from Media City reminds me of home which makes me feel comfortable and helped me settle into life away much easier. With Manchester just down the road you can never be short of a good night out with plenty of bars and nightclubs to spend your evening and also some lovely independent restaurants where you can go eat. The shopping if fantastic as it is just 10 minutes away from the largest shopping centre in the UK the Trafford Centre which has absolutely everything you could wish for. There may not be as much to choose from in Salford itself in sense of shopping, clubbing and food but with easy transport to Manchester there doesn't need to be that busy city feel here and I'm happy to call Salford my second home.

Extremely close to Manchester with an incredible music and night life scene. Very clean environment and I feel very safe in the city centre.

Proximity to Manchester is amazing with taxis/Uber’s costing between £3-8 depending on the time of the day. Salford university it’s self is based in a great location with good transport links to Manchester City centre although coming out the Frederick road end of campus isn’t so desirable. Tesco and Aldi are also within walking distance of the accommodation in the presinct making shopping easy.

Easy access to the city. Great nightlife in Manchester. Amazing facilities at the university. I would definitely recommend choosing to live in Salford and going to this university.

Your basically a 5 minute bus ride away from Manchester so benefit greatly from what the Northern Captial has to offer but abit more of a chilled vibe. Train station in middle of the two campuses 2 minutes at either side. All building close by.

The location of the university is pretty good. Right next to a train station so if you are coming from home or going home it’s easy access. As well there are tons of buses which go past the university so pretty easy to get too. All the nightclubs are in Manchester so you either have to get a bus or a taxi but it isn’t that expensive or long to get too. Around the university there are a few pubs and a McDonald’s but other than that there isn’t much else.
