I stayed in a 4 person flat there in my first year of university (2016/17). The halls were alright for the price - they were cheap but had all the essentials. The bath and kitchen were shared which could sometimes be unpleasant if someone refuses to tidy up after themselves. We had a schedule for cleaning the bathroom, wiping surfaces, vacuuming, and taking the bins out. The halls are located 10 minutes away from the university campus, there is a bus stop right in front of the building, and all amenities are located within 10 minutes as well. There is a gym on site which I used almost daily. It had a few treadmills, an elliptical and weights and this was all I needed. The building also had a cinema room and a large kitchen with dining tables for larger gatherings. Sometimes my friends and I would have a meal there. It does require booking prior to using it though which can be troublesome for more spontaneous events.

I stayed in Eddie Colman in my first year. While it wasn't the best experience ever, it was not as bad as people would have you believe. The staff are amazing and helpful, and try to organize events for the residents, without much payoff usually. The big problem is the fact that the buildings are quite old and carry a very depressive aura.

Pros: The rooms are a decent size, all staff are friendly and happy to help, the location is great as you're across the road from uni but also a 5 min walk from the shops, you have communal areas that you can hire out Cons: half the radiators in our flat doesn't work, the fire alarm goes off about twice a week, you don't have my social space in your flat, you don't have a broom; a kettle; a toaster; or a hoover with the flat, live next to the police station so often hear sirens going off, get people coming to your door talking about God or leaflets for clubs coming through the door

Overall this accommodation is fine and has everything you need. However, the layout of the flat is not designed to give you a social space. There is no communal space and/or living room in the flat which makes it more difficult to connect with your flat mates. Fair prices for the area still.

The eddie colman court is fit for use, but could use renovating, as there are many signs of facilities being quite old.

It is a very socialable place. A great communal kitchen. Good gym.. okay laundry. There's always some events. The actual rooms are livable for the price. My room has mold which may be affecting my health but a part from that everything is okay for what you pay for.
