Plymouth itself isn't the nicest city, however, it has a couple of nice spots and is close to many. The Barbican area is home to some of the oldest buildings, is on the water front and the ideal drinkong spot. Live music most nights and plenty of atmosphere. The Plymouth Hoe is the large open area looking out to see, particularly good in hot weather. Being so close to Cornwall, Plymouth is ideal for anyone who likes surfing with a drive time of just over an hour to Newquay. Overall a good location with plenty going on.

As far as cities go, Plymouth isn’t the biggest, but I come from an even smaller city so it’s just right for me. The campus is slap bang in the middle of town so it’s really accessible. The uni offers free transport on certain buses for my course so when we’re required to be at other sites it’s not at our expense and the buses are fairly regular. The train station is a 10 minute walk from campus as well so that’s ideal. However, the roads are a bit hazardous and take some time getting used to. The student union is right in the centre of campus but loads of bars and clubs offer student nights and deals and I’ve had a great time every time I’ve been out. The student union has always got something going on as well so it’s worth giving them a follow on Facebook to keep up to date with their events. There’s plenty places to eat whether at the multiplex where the cinema is, outside of drake circus or going a little upmarket at fort William yard but you’re guaranteed to find a pasty place on almost every corner. Drake circus offers student nights very now and then with 10-20% off in almost all the stores! It’s not the biggest shopping complex but it’s got everything I would need. I feel the halls are a little overpriced but the nights out can be fairly cheap so it sort of balances out, there’s an Aldi close-ish so I shop there but there’s also a Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Co-op if you don’t fancy the walk. Overall I am enjoying my experience in Plymouth and couldn’t imagine myself being at any other city.

Good location. Lots of beaches near by. Dartmoor is close too nice to go for walks. Easy access by trains or driving. Lots of good coffee shops and a good variety of places to eat.

Great location, love the coffee shops - perfect for studying and catching up with friends. Everything is just a short walk away which is very convenient and means you don't have to rely on public transport.

Plymouth has wonderful views and beaches, however most can only be accessed by cars. There is a very nice modern shopping centre, lots of cinemas, bowling, many activity centres with sports like climbing and trampolining. There are many lovely parks around, perfect to relax in the summer months.

The university is based in the centre of the city. Everything is at walking distance with great public transport running till late if not all night. The clubs again are at walking distance with your accommodation super close wherever you are.

Small city but full of life. Can easily get to one side or other by walking, with lots of great shops and restaurants. The hoe and Barbican are lovely historical areas that are great on sunny days, with great food places including capt jaspers. Loads of opportunities to sail which is fab for me.

You’re never too far away from a good view and places to explore - whether it be the Hoe, the Barbican or even a short drive out to Dartmoor. Plymouth is bussling with nice spots especially on a sunny day. Despite the long distance from London, and from home for me personally, and being tucked in the South West, Plymouth is an interesting city with adaquate shopping, nightlife and activites for you not to need to travel. However, for more unique events and entertainment, it’s rare many musicians visit Plymouth - and Bristol (2 hour direct train) would be potentially the closest ‘big’ city. A night out in Plymouth can be pricey on a Saturday with their biggest club - Pryzm charging extortionate prices but students opt to go out during the week there. However, there are other choices. For those who like a smaller venue, at a better value, SU, Fresher & Professor and Fever are perfect, providing popular music and themed nights (e.g Detention at SU - for those who prefer alternative music). Alongside this, The Hub and Factory are intimate venues providing Bassline, D&B, Jungle and Garage music weekly with a variety of popular MCs and DJs performing. In addition to this, clubs like Cuba and Switch, which are essentially bars open till the early hours is where you may find yourself at the end of the night before heading to 24 hour cafe/bar/restaurant, Caffeine Club for some good munch before heading home.

Nice place with warm weather (even when it rains) and right by the sea so there’s always something free to do! Nightlife and shopping are good for a small city nothing is more than 15 minutes walk and the uni is 2 minutes from the city centre

The university campus is int he city centre which means that it is close to everything. The main shopping mall is literally 3 minutes walking from my class, which means that I can go and buy things that I want during my lunch break. Apart from tht there are hundreds of restaurants just at the doorstep of the university campus. You don't really need any means of transport as you can go everywhere by foot.

Plenty of nice cheap restaurants, pubs and clubs with good cheap beer, buses and taxis and trains. All the good shit.

I study with Plymouth Uni, but I am located in Tiverton petroc and it is great, You can learn all the same stuff you would in plymouth but in much smaller classes and you get more 1 on one time with the lecturer

There is so much to do in Plymouth and it’s all within walking distance of the university campus and all of the halls. Shopping spree? Walk there. Cinema? Walk there. And if you do need a bus to get somewhere like Derriford hospital there are frequent services!

Plymouth is a nice city to live in, it’s not too big and now too small. It has plenty of stuff to do and there’s always something different hidden behind every corner. Plymouth’s also a historical city, making it feel more special.

Plymouth is a good place for living and shopping. Has alot of place to improve and could do more for the environment. But still nice and have a nice atmosphere most of the time.

Plenty of decent shops, and decent places to eat. Average value for money throughout the city too. Not too bad to stay there.

The uni is in the centre of town, within 5 minutes of the student village (where most of the halls of residence are) and the main shopping centre + high street. Student housing is around 10 minutes away. You can walk anywhere you'd want to go.

Location is central so easy to get to transport and shopping. The university overall is okay though some faculties are better than others. If you find a good mentor or lecturer keep them close you’ll need them come exam/coursework time!

Nights outs are really good, it’s not that expensive. Most people go to pryzm, the su or union rooms/popworld. Shopping centre isn’t very big but there’s a wide variety of shops.

Plymouth is a lovely city. A vibrant city, right next to the coast- the city can be what you want it to be. The university is the centre of plymouth, a stones throw away from the high street, and a short walk to just about anywhere! The nightlife has something for everybody- Pryzm is a 15 minute walk, popworld a 10 minute walk, and you’re spoilt for choice with student bars, nightclubs, pubs and restaurants, some open 24 hours. There’s also a large and growing underground music scene, with The Hub, and Factory hosting events weekly- providing the best Drum and Bass, Bassline, House, Jungle etc.
