St German's

St Germans is a close knit accommodation. With only 36 students in each building (4 buildings) it is easy to make friends with everyone and build a large social group. The accommodation provides great social spaces within each flat and the rooms are spacious - even with a double bed!

Basically lafrowda but you get bigger rooms and a double bed. The ensuite bathrooms are tidy and have a nice seperate shower rather than a wet room. The joint kitchen and living room had so much more space than needed for 6 people. Would say it attracts students who are a little less keen on going out every night but we still had plently of nights out a week (at least 2) but meant it wasnt really noisy all the time. Was perfect for someone who likes a balance between fun and sleep.

Excellent location - very close to campus amenities. Each flat has a large kitchen/diner/lounge (much larger than in neighbouring Lafrowda). Interior could use updating especially the dated carpets.

The kitchen facilities are very nice and pretty new, and the en suite is nice. However our block is the only block without double beds, and also the social life in this accommodation is quite quiet. But it’s in a really good location, really close to the centre of campus.

I think 6/7 is the ideal number of flatmates and the shared space is definitely better than other residences at the same price. Downside of the ground floor of Chagford and the rest is the lack of privacy in rooms/kitchen, and the bedrooms are never properly bright, maybe better on the higher floors. I'd choose it again. Also as a side note Lydford although the quiet block are really sociable and like going out (deffo less frequently than say a Lafrowda block obviously) but don't rule it out if you think you won't get on with the people because it's 'quiet'. Fill out the flatmate matching form properly and do it yourself! - know two people would didn't get on with their flat because they let their parents fill out the form and it didn't reflect them at all.

The hall is catered acomidation which was great and I am very bad at cooking. The food was generally good and menus changed every week so there was lots of variety. The room was in good condition with bed, wardrobe, desk, shelves and a sink as it was shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were cleaned regularly and I had no problems sharing I could always have a shower when I wanted one. There were occasionally social events in the common room. The hall is located on the edge of campus with a short walk to the academic buildings and about 20 minutes from the town centre.

Excellent residence set back from Lafrowda. This year, it was filled with quieter students which have been great. They are much better as you are sharing with fewer students and still have the proximity to Campus. The rooms themselves are really nice and averagely sized for student accommodation. There is ample cooking space, with a dividing wall to the communal area.

Really good experience in st Germans, was a nice tight knit community and everyone in the block grew so close. The rooms were nice and homely and the kitchen/living are is massive, good for hanging out with everyone.
