Gill Street South

Room is very nice and clean, has lots of storage room and a nice bathroom, however very over priced and not worth the £155 pw. Kitchen is nice and appliances are all in good condition however it's hard for the flats to mix i think there should be a common room to make it more social. Also not very good for sleeping as you can hear everything outside the window on the road even with the window closed. Location is very good though for going to uni, going into town and going on a night out.

Biggest problem for me is the single beds cuz im tall and stocky it can be a challenge, specially if u have companu. I miss having baths. No tvs in our block so less of a social room.

This is one of the nicest accommodations ntu has to offer. It's newly refurbished. However whilst staying here with have had problems with the wifi, the water, and the power which have taken a little while to fix. It's a good accommodation, one of the best on offer but is expensive for what you get. How good it is socially it depends on your flat, but that's out of your control as you can't know who you're staying with until you've picked the room.

GSS is so close uni that you can literally roll out of bed and into your lecture in minutes. The halls are modern and the common areas are spacious but the rooms are pretty small, although, living in the big flats with 10 people is a lot of fun. Freshers week here is great, as there's always something going on and it's easy to make friends with flats on other floors. Downsides to here are security are hot on any noise so no big parties but that's a plus when you actually want a good nights sleep. Mike the Irish security guard is a decent guy tho, so stay on his good side. Also, we had some issues with things breaking and it took a while to get them sorted - door to the flat stopped closing properly which is obvs a security issue, one of our lights filled with a disgusting smelling leak and our kitchen tap came loose - it's expensive to live here so would have thought it would have been better maintained. Loved living here though.

The location of Gill Street South is ideal. So close to the city but just far away enough to not hear the noise from the students union or he city. It's all really modern and clean, having an en-suite bathroom is so handy! It's also really safe, it's closed off with gates and you need a key to get in.

The location of gill street is great, 2 minute walk from Trent and a 5 minute walk to the shopping centre, it's in the heart of the town but tucked away enough to avoid any noise from traffic. The facilities in the flat are great, beds really comfy, and showers hire powerful. The social life living here is great it's right round the corner from the SU and a 2 minute walk from spoons.

Very modern, clean and practical. Cleaners come to flat weekly. Maintenance are very helpful. Can be noisy at times. No lift access. Great location. Washing machines unreliable and expensive. Overall price expensive.

These halls have very spacious kitchens and rooms with ensuites and the location is perfect. It can be noisy sometimes, especially if you're on the ground floor, but apart from that I'd say they're the best halls out of all of them.

The room and flat was very modern and clean but was quite small. Amazing location as it was right on campus and so close to city centre, couldn't get closer to everything you needed. It was very social but would mean it was often very loud which was expected. It felt very safe with the gated entry which was a big positive for me. Downfall was how expensive it was especially considering it was a small room and the kitchen area wasn't very comfortable if you were trying to spend time with flat mates for a while. Also no blinds on the huge kitchen Windows meant that you didn't have much privacy at night as others could see in clear as day. Overall good experience but think it was ultimately overpriced now that I've lived elsewhere.

The location was perfect, facilities were impeccable but the social experience wasn’t the best. The blocks are quite segregated/cut off to themselves and there isn’t much going on between flats, unless you make friends and go over. This would be less of an issue if there were a common room for example.

I have been so lucky to find amazing friends in my flat and the accommodation is amazing. The location is two minutes away from my university building which is a dream. I love every minute and I never want to leave.

- Expensive for what you get - Was in a flat above a flat of older students who made noise complaints about us for the whole year over any noise (best example was my friends singing happy birthday too loudly, resulting in me receiving a £30 fine) Many of my flat also received fines over the year Poor management from the university in including a flat for older students in freshers halls if they have a problem with noise, what do they expect?

The location is amazing, 3 minute walk to lectures, 1 minute walk to SU, 5-10 minute walk into town and if you need to go any further there’s trams constantly running. The actual accommodation is great however for the price you’re paying, you’d expect at least a tv in the kitchen or a common room to make it a more sociable accommodation but the kitchen is spacious and the room is nice so all in all it does it’s job!

Good flatmates, but no lift and we’re on the top floor, also gets really hot Nice of them to give me a new bed though

Great location to uni and the city centre. Great facilities, big kitchen and very modern. The room has a very big desk and lots of storage space. Quite sociable. There is also a courtyard.

Perfect location, beautiful clean modern room. Could do with more of a lounge area to give a more communal feel.

Loved my accommodation, the flats were safely secured, clean and perfect sized. The 3 minute walk to uni jd being so close to town was ideal.

Lovely staff and constantly checking if everything OK with high levels of security. Amazing location 2 minutes from lectures and 5 minutes into the main city center and nightlife

Great location and facilities (all rooms are en-suite). Social experience was amazing, always something to do. Made friends with people in other flats as well as my own. It is quite expensive but as are all university accommodation.

The accommodation is absolutely excellent, perfect number of rooms to make friends (10 rooms in a flat) and its super modern with en suites which is good as in first year you don't know everyone that well to start with. Easy electronic locks on the doors and the kitchen is lovely and bright. Best accomm in Notts

Excellent location, less than 5 minute walk to tram stops, SU, and uni/library. Lots of nightlife within a 10 minute or so walk. Tesco Express is just around the corner, Tesco Metro is about a 10 minute walk away, and a large Aldi 20 minutes away.

Excellent facilities. Halls are done up to a high standard with a 24 hour reception which comes in handy after a night out. Any maintenance or noise complaints around exam season are dealt with as soon as possible. However, I found often the fob would run out of battery and stop working.

I found Gill Street South really good in terms of safety, location and room storage - however I found the size of my flat far too large for me socially, which made fitting in with people difficult and made the year stressful. I lived in a flat with 10 other people and wasn't given a way to request or state a preference for a smaller flat before being assigned it. I know other universities offer personality quizzes for students that help the uni place them in flats with people that they're well matched with and I think this is something Trent could consider as I know other students who had bad experiences living in halls such as Gill Street South and Byron due to the kind of environment they are.

Loved it; was clean, looked great compared to other halls and didn’t receive too much street noise so wasn’t kept up at night too much. The cleaners were good and everything’s in such convenient distance. Would definitely go back.
