Great location, the sports centre is right next door (2 minute walk) and the main student union building is just up the road (about a 10 minute walk). It's also very close to a tram station and the local coop. The food is decent, breakfast is always really good, dinners vary but rarely disgusting. I enjoy the dinners The social aspect isn't regrets though, ancster only has 2 small social areas (one of which was closed in the first few weeks due to people have pres in there and it being left messy). It's hard to socialise generally in catered halls as you don't have a flat (you're just on a corridor), therefore I'd highly recommend self catered halls as everyone I've spoken to has said they are better socially.

The location of the hall is good, however quite far away from many of the lecture theatres and other main buildings on campus. The facilities available are average - many other halls have a cafe or bar but ancaster doesn’t, which can be a bit annoying since lunch can only be bought at one of the campus cafes or shops. The JCR committee were good at organising events and we had some really nice formals. The rooms were average - some have very nice views but others don’t so it can be luck of the draw. The bathroom showers would often leak and there were often problems with the lights, and many rooms had damp on the ceiling.

The hall was off to the side of the university and felt very isolated. While good that it was so close to the sports village, the people living there felt very unwelcoming and stuck to their own groups.

I had a great room all the staff were friendly the meals included were great value for money the only thing that could have really been improved would have been the jcr

Full of people that already know eachother which makes it really difficult for people coming alone. Nice rooms. Awful food and is really unhealthy, expect chips every night pretty much. Bad location away from everything other than the gym.

If you enjoy black mould and atrocious food, ancaster is the Hall for you! This hall is literally bad for your health! In addition, the social space feels like an old people’s home. Unfriendly staff sit around judging you all day. The only redeeming part is binding with fellow residents over the slum that you are living in.

It was a great experience, although would have preferred if the computers were not in the laundry room! It was always quite cold in there so not a good place to use the computers!

The food could be better, but the rooms are very nice - mostly ensuite and the beds are very comfortable. The location is on the edge of campus so good for the sports centre but not for lectures. Other halls have restaurants in them but ours doesn't do that's a bit disappointing sometimes.

Not too bad, there are much better halls, but Ancaster is not terrible. Food isn’t great either, but it’s good that we don’t have to cook

The halls are on campus near the Humanities building, and near both a Hopper bus stop and a city bus stop. The rooms are all really nice, spacious and most of them have a double bed and ensuite. However, it is not the most social hall because the JCR is one of the smallest and least looked after, and the food isn't very good either.

Ancaster Hall is OK the rooms tend to be bigger than in other halls and it's near the sports centre, however the halls are no way as nice as most on campus and it is right on the edge of campus so a longish walk to lectures.
