I moved to Newcastle for University 3 years ago and it was the best decision I've ever made. Personally, the best part for me is ths night life, with every week day offering a different event (Monday and Thursday are particularly good). Also, the town centre is full of shops and places to eat so you're always spoiled for choice.

There is a lot to do in Newcastle , there is a lot of shops and fun things to do, like the ice skating at the centre for life in winter

Newcastle is a great place to move to as a first time away from home. The night life is amazing, there's plenty of free stuff to do around the city if you're poor (student life) and loads of places for food and drinks, with great deals and offers. There's always a bus, taxi or metro to get around the city.

Great city with so much to do! Everything you could want is within walking distance from most uni accomodation and houses. The nightlife is as good as it's reputation and far more varied than I expected. The locals are so friendly and very welcoming, there is loads of places to shop and having St James' park right near the centre is so unusual for a football stadium.

Newcastle is beautiful city. With all the essential being in a 20 mins walk radius in the centre. The Quayside is very pretty perfect for nice afternoons. A slight lack of green spaces

Newcastle is a lovely city to live in. Plenty of night life and things to do. Would definitely recommend. Brown ale is also mint!!

Lovely and exciting city, needs more cheaper restaurants available to appeal to uni students. Drinks in nightclubs should be cheaper as it limits the amount of days I can go out.

Great city. Always feel safe when walking alone. New restaurant section of Eldon square is great. The quayside is a beautiful walk and the city is so clean.

Newcastle has a great nightlife to the point it always feels like you're on holiday. There's always events on and always something to do. Everything's is walking distance from each other and it's so easy to get from one place to another. Friendliest people around, a great place to move to.

Newcastle has been branded the best student city for a while now and there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be! Newcastle has everything whether it's great food at an amazing value, places to shop, countless student housing locations at varying prices, places to see concerts and theatre or even the beach! (Granted it's a metro ride away and it's always freezing but it's there!) Newcastle is an amazing place to make your home away from home. There is always something to do and more to discover in the beautiful city full of friendly welcoming people. I can't recomment it enough.

Extremely good value for money in terms of nights out and clubs as a whole. Great variety of places to check out shopping wise but slight lack of vintage shops unfortunately.

This is the perfect city for students. Everything is so close, shopping clubs, bars, restaurants etc. There is everything you need and on sunny days you can easily go to the beach or at the quay side where they create a mini beach for the summer.

Newcaste is so much nicer than you think. Famous for night life and partying there is so much more to this river bound city. 5 min driver from the beach, 60000 seat stadium at st James park. So much fun to be had

The perfect sized city to fit everything in her easy to get around. The nightlife is the best in the country, has all the shops you need right in the city centre along with a huge variety of places for food and entertainment.

Newcastle is a great city on a budget. It's a city that doesn't punish me for my bad habit ignoring never cooking. Having lived there for a few months now, I'm still finding places to eat every single day and they all seem to accommodate to a student's budget.

This town has everything! Countless shops, restaurants and bars/clubs for all price ranges. Housing and travel is so much cheaper than what I expected. The people are so nice. Only thing I could ever complain about is the cold!
