Absolutely amazing town full of history and amazing places to admire, eat, shop, and drink your heart away. There are also hundreds of events on all the time for the public, so you can never get bored.

Newcastle is a great city for students with many events catered towards a younger crowd. During the day you could go shopping, Newcastle being a top shopping destination in the North of England. It offers both highstreet names and boutique brands as well as the shopping centre Intu. If shopping isn't your thing then eat at one of the many different restaurants, visit the dog or cat café, play bowling at Lane 7 or even visit the quayside and enjoy the view. Newcastle offers something for everyone. If wanting to escape from the city you could take the metro to Tynemouth and visit the beach. Everything is easily accessible with bus routes, trains and a metro system available. As a student living in Newcastle the majoirty of activities are in walking distance so you don't have to spend so much money on transport. Not wanting your day to be over? Then Newcastle is the place to be. The nightlife scene is one of the best in the UK with lots of options to choose from including Digital, House of Smith and Soho to name a few. Nights out in Newcastle are cheaper than other parts of the country. In terms of recommendations... Student Bar/Pub: The Dog & Parrot, Holy Hobo, North Terrace, Bar Loco Restaurants: Dojo (Japanese), Fat Hippo (burgers), Tea Sutra (vegan, LOTS OF TEA!), Miller & Carter (steakhouse, pricier option for students), Chilli Padi (Malaysian), Zaap (Thai), Dabbawal (Indian), Zapatista (burrito bar), The Botanist (British) There are so many others! Activites: CatPawCino (cat café), Dog and Scone (Dog café), Lane 7 (bowling, karaoke, minigolf), drinks by the quayside, live music nights at Bar Loco, TeamSport Go Karting, visit the Great British Cupcakery for a sweet treat, visit the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, visit Tynemouth beach and Jesmond Dene, watch a football game at the stadium etc...

Ignore the Geordie shore bullshit far too often perceived by people yet to move here, the culture in this Northern city is next to none. The people are the nicest folk you'll meet but as it's got two universities, there's proper variety of people here.

A perfect city, the mix of clubs means that there is a night out suited for everyone!! The city centre is small meaning that it can be walked around on foot, places like jesmond dene, the stack and quayside are all favourite locations of mine

Newcastle is a brilliant place for a night out. Some really cheap student bars. It's also a great place for shopping and just overall.

Newcastle Upon Tyne is a wonderful city that can be easily accessible on foot for the most part. The city centre is small but lively with wide variety of things going on to cater to different needs. From food markets to pop-up bars, movie nights at the Newcastle Castle to wild nights out on the town. There really is a lot to do. The city centre is home to a wonderful range of restaurants which are definitely value for money. If you go a little further into the nooks and crannies, you will find quaint little coffee shops and cafes, perfect to cure the Friday night hangover. Shopping is right at your door step, with a huge range of stores in the Eldon Square and near Haymarket. Newcastle is of course known to be a bit of a party city, and that reputation is not achieved from no where. There are a wide range of clubs and bars with different types of music for whatever you feel like. So if you go from bar to club or just stay in the bars all night, you are sure to have a good time. Other things that are affordable and fun include, different events set up by the local businesses such as arts and crafts, tastings sessions and food nights as well as the options between a fair few gyms in town and cinemas.

I had no experience of the North until going to Newcastle to study. Its a gorgeous city with so much to do and so much to see. Quayside and the city centre offer independent shops, cafes and pubs alongside the big highstreet chains. There are more art galleries and museums than you can count. There are hidden gems like jesmond dene park and ousborne farm which offer nature in the city. Music venues and bars that offer more than live music are plentiful and there are some fantastic pubs! The metro makes the beach and surrounding highstreets available in a matter of minutes.

Newcastle is a great city with everything you need. The transport on offer is great, there are many modes of transport for individuals to get around, and they come pretty frequently. Buses and metro’s are reasonably priced, even more so now that student tickets have now been introduced onto stagecoach buses. The transport available is even more helpful with the introduction of night buses, allowing people to get around at night for a lot cheaper fee than a taxi fare. The city centre has a brilliant shopping centre, as well as the metro centre (which is only a short bus ride from the city centre). Newcastle also offers a wide variety of places to eat, whether that be on a budget or for a slightly pricier meal. The majority of restaurants in the area offer student discount, which is very convenient for students. In addition to this, the city has a lot of facilities to keep individuals entertained, such as cinemas, bowling alleys, mini golf, pool clubs, and many more. Newcastle is famously known as having great night life, and this is certainly the case. There are a several clubs, which are open until the early hours of the morning. Drinks tend to be reasonably priced, but of course this varies depending on where you are. Many clubs have cheap entry, and some have no entry fee at all. There are club events on weekly, with promotions for cheaper drinks and cheaper entry.

A city you can never get sick of - I’m here almost weekly with my friends and family always trying out new restaurants at affordable prices, it’s very easy to get around too due to how compact it is

Newcastle is the 15 minute city, you can walk anywhere you need to be in roughly 15 minutes. A buzzing nightlife, up and coming artscene and right by the coast.

Over the past few years, food places and shopping has improved greatly. The various places in Newcastle are becoming more and more on par with various other big city centres such as leeds and manchester due to more shops and eldon sqaure food court. The nights out are as good as ever and continue to remain cheap for the majority of clubs. Public transport like anywhere remains deer and would be much more greatly used if cheaper. However, the night buses and free bus route for students to uni is an added bonus and a great help. More deals like this would be so widely used and appreciated around newcastle.

Proper good nightlife love a cheeky treb, metro is well cheap, uni is decent, always something to do or somewhere to go do much to explore !

Belta nights out, three trebs for a fiva, juicy scran left right n centre!! Good shops in eldon square... Need ya phone fixed gan to apple store or if ya skint wor rasheed in the grainger market will fix a damaged screen for a fiva. Day drinking start on the quayside then make your way up to central station and then followed by a filthy session at the bigg market where u can drink steins bigger than ya heed. Finally followed by a sketchy after sesh somewhere talking utter fucking steven spielburg to random people youv just met in some tacky kitchen. Gan to uni here you will not regret it. Toon toon

The nights out are tremendous and fully worth the money you pay for them. I wish it would do more to have a big regular event eg canal mills in Leeds or warehouse in Manchester. The shopping is good and gives you a balance of indoor and outdoor experience and the food has all you need. I think maybe there could be more local restaurants that are unique to Newcastle rather than chains, but there is still plenty of choice. Definitely the best for value city in the UK in my opinion x

Pretty decent place, quite small so easy to get places, pretty cold but it's the North so what do you expect, a surplus of Greggs which is just like a dream come true, and nice Geordie people too.
