Location is IDEAL, especially if you're doing a science or medicine! Its also super close to campus as well as the gym and only a 10 minute walk into town. These halls are pretty old so prepare yourself for some pretty grimy rooms, but the food is alright and the social life cant be beat. Leazes is iconic.

The location of Castle Leazes was great as I didn’t know my way around Newcastle well and living in these halls was a close and safe walk to the university. The halls location in regards with the city centre is within a short walking distance of 15 minutes and made it really convenient to buy food and socialise. Castle Leazes is renound for being a social hub and living in a flat of 10 meant that there was plenty of people to meet and make friends with. The hall was also catered, which although sounds like it could of been bad school dinners, was actually suprisingly nice food and fresh. Catered meals also meant there was a much larger social experience than self catered, providing an opportunity to branch away from your flat and meet loads of new people. There was also a small shop to buy junk food and healthy options, great for when I was hungover! My room was an ensuite room which was really good in terms of having your own privacy within mixed gender flats. However, the room was narrow in width and there was little room to entertain friends. Fortunately, these ensuite flats had large kitchens and a lounge with seating and a tv. This meant socially these flats were great and held many pre parties.

Bit grotty but good location and most social halls in Newcastle. Good food for those that are catered and very affordable. Best halls in Newcastle in my opinion and I'm glad I ended up there

Decent location for the accomodation although some of structures could be improved. Some of the halls in castle leazes are more modern compared to others so experience depends on where I end up. I’m not in one of modern ones but I like the place although it could be better but it’s close to campus sp ot helps in the morning

I loved living in Castle Leazes. I lived in Castle Court and although it was a bit more expensive, it was so worth it with such better living conditions.

Good location as close to town centre and to university campus, good facilities and amazing social experience, but the kitchen is tiny to be shared between 17 people and there is no living room/communal area.

It’s the perfect hall for if you want to be in a very loud, social area, but this becomes a negative aspect when you’re trying to work and you want some peace, because you won’t get any. It’s very close to the medical school, which is a plus, but a 15 minutes walk from be main campus. The buildings themselves are very old and unpleasant, the kitchens lack facilities, and it’s not the nicest place to live. Also, the fire alarms go off at least once a week, usually in the middle of the night.

Prime location, great facilities and a good room. Food is decent and it is socially great. Would recommend to anyone coming to Newcastle

Being catered is actually a blessing. I loved knowing I could wake up and come home to a hot meal. The social aspect too is good fun.

Location is mega, rooms are decent. Kitchen is shit toilets are shit, the resident staff are pretty horrible always looking for an excuse to confiscate anything and charge you. The social aspect completely throws all of the bad points though because it’s so good

Gives the best opportunity to make friends and socialise. Sharing a floor with up to 18 people means that you have a better chance of meeting more people. The facilities are basic and the buildings are slightly outdated but the good social atmosphere makes up for this. The food is basic, similar to school dinners. The security are fairly rude and rarely helpful but just try not to get on the wrong side of them! Hefty charges for lost keys and other behavioural charges. All in all, still the best choice for student accommodation at Newcastle university. You would regret not choosing leazes!

Good location for university, especially the med school. Great social life but would rather all floors had communal areas. Could also have a shop on the premesis to improve.

good location, near the uni and town, food included, good social scene as lots of people there with a games room and bar. some rooms really nice, others need a bit of an update.

The kitchen is far too small for 17 people and has no windows, it's boiling and smells all the time. The social experience is good

Great location can walk anywhere in city, meet lots of people in castle leazes area so very social as can mix with 1500 people at whole accommodation ,room basic and shabby but not too bad, facilities ok

Castle Leazes is by far the most sociable somehow you become friends with everyone! It’s close to the Uni gym and university so no long walks!

Catered food is great at 5 o’clock but is not very nice at 7 o’clock. Acoomodation toiltets ( the ones in the flat) are badly designed with a toilet roll that isn’t refilled taking up space where a small shelf could be installed. Other than these things it is pretty good but reception staff are not very friendly.

Good Location. Close to town centre. Studying medicine based course, and the hospital is across the road, so easy journey. Clean accommodation. Rooms are fairly small, and if you are catered, you do not have a living room.

Good location. Close to city centre. Close to main campus and university hospital. If catered, no living room provided. Fairly small rooms.

I am currently staying in castle court with is part of castle Leazes. Castle court has been recently refurbished and is definitely the one of the nicer blocks. The communal area isn’t that big which means the flat doesn’t really spend much time in there. It does however have the option of catered food which I think is really nice and well worth the extra money. The staff at castle Leazes are all really nice and are very helpful

Castle leazes is a great location for the university, especially the medical and dental school, it’s perfect for freshers and meeting new people as everyone’s close together. Catered food is okay but veggie Monday’s always disappointing.
