There isn't really that much to complain about regarding my accommodation. It's in a prime location, only a 10-or-so minute walk from the main campus, and 15 into town; there is a handy corner shop only about five minutes away for those last minute beer buys or an emergency loaf of bread; it is reasonably easy to get to, and all of the taxi drivers I've had so far can find it with ease - perfect for when you've downed one too many drinks and need to get back quick! I'm in a catered style accommodation, and the food on offer is more than reasonable. There is plenty of choice for breakfasts and evening meals, including more than one vegetarian option, a salad bar and plenty for desert. The style of meals are typically very varied so more often than not you can find something to quench your cravings, saving you tons on ordering in. I'm also in a shared bathroom type situation, which has been one of the very few downfalls of this accommodation. The showers are decent, I can't lie, but the toilets resemble those of an old petrol station restroom, with only one sink in the corner to cater to three loos. Also, the toilet paper has not been refilled since I arrived (it's currently November) which left my flatmates and I having to buy some for ourselves. But there has not yet been a technical problem with them. My room is very nicely sized, giving me a lot of floor and work space so I don't feel cramped or trapped which is most definitely a perk. And the accommodation on a whole offers a wide range of facilities, including a T.V room, snooker rooms, a launderettes and its very own bar, not to mention several social and event spaces, some of which have grand pianos in them. Overall, Castle Leazes accommodation is really good for new students as it's huge size gives you a sense of community amongst its residents. I feel safe and kind of at home here, so I do recommend it to anyone interested (just maybe try and opt for an ensuite).
