Tonnes of places around Manchester for a night out including bars, pubs and night clubs. The Trafford Centre and Arndale are so close by if you want to go shopping, and especially nice to visit close to Christmas due to the Christmas markets, considered to be the largest in Europe. For value of money, this is one of the best places for a student since there's so much to do, even things like the BBC tour and karting are easy to get to, and it's all reasonably priced!

Manchester is great for those seeking city life but not too hectic. It was a great compromise coming from London, you have the diversity, excitement and pace and buzz of living in a multicultural city with great nights and lovely people with the added peacefulness of the surrounding area. Transport is as good as UK public transport can get if you don't live in London but taxis are the go to when travelling in groups as it works out cheaper. Eating out you have loads of option but food up here just isn't as nice, people aren't too fussed about incredible food up north and competitions not as high so standards are noticably lower (in terms of 'affordable' food) I can't really speak for the gourmet/fancier restaurants since as a student I obviously avoided these places. Great value for money, always something to do, really good places for shopping. Have loved every second of it

Manchester is a fantastic area, packed with 40k students, offering the best night outs along deansgate, a great city and centre and the capital of football. It’s the perfect city and combining it all together makes it the best place in the world.

The nights out our great, every night there is always somewhere or something to do. My favourite place to go was Antwerp but now that has closed down I prefer to go to hidden (bring on the day and night events) the food is great there is so many places to go and eat. I love going for brunch, there’s a great place called feral in northern quarter with amazing poached eggs and avocado with smoked salmon on sourdough! Shopping is my life which is good COs there’s so many shops in the centre and then also at the Trafford centre. Manchester is very good budget for students, with 1.50£ for a vodka mixer, easily only spend 10£ most on a night out. Manchester is so fun

Manchester is an amazing city to be a student in. It is easily comparable to London, but on a smaller scale, and has everything you could possibly need. The city centre has a plethora of bars, shops, restaurants, clubs and more - it screams culture on every street. A day could be made in the Northern Quarter, where record stores and cafes line the street and the mighty Afflecks could leave you with a bag of vintage wear, a tattoo or your favourite film memorabilia. At the same time, half an hour on the bus in any direction could take you to a serene countryside view, such as Heaton Park in the north or Fletcher Moss botanical gardens in the south. Manchester also has a great history of music, which is brought through in its amazing nights out. World class DJs and performers flood through Manchester weekly, not to mention the Warehouse Project which brings life to the night for 3 months a year. One of the only problems you will have is having too many options to choose from for a night out! In the student area of Fallowfield, there’s also about 10 different pubs within a 10 minute radius so a couple of pints is a great option too.

Manchester is a fantastic student city, with plenty to offer for everyone. The nightlife is very good and Liverpool is only a short train journey away. The city offers a range of places to eat, drink and shop.

Manchester is buzzing with a vibrant atmosphere and a diverse amount of people. You can truly never get bored in this city with the vast amount of restaurants and shops and kooky little market places. The integration of the trams running through the city centre adds to its overall authenticity. You will never find a still moment with musicians and singers performing every few feet away from each other.

I love the art culture of Manchester, cheap and cheerful places like "The font" which is completely student friendly with the low prices and a great variety of drinks to choose from

Manchester has everything you could possibly imagine. Amazing nights out, friendly people, a huge array of restaurants and more. There is something to fit anyone's taste throughout the city. The closer to the centre, the more expensive places get, but there are some incredible student places dotted around if you know about them.

For me the most important part of the studying life is the accommodation and its location. The environment in the place where you are living is essential to enjoy the university life.

Couldn’t reccommend Manchester enough, it really does have it all. Night life is great with so many different variations of music from indie to standard clubbing to the joys that have been antwerp and hidden. Transport is fast and accessible and the city is thriving with great bars, restaurants and shops. Glad to call Manchester my second home.

Manchester is the place to go if you're looking for that uni/social experience. Cheap drinks, full of character and plenty of gigs. Not to mention our local Parklife festival. There's something for everyone guaranteed.

The MMU is in Manchester City centre making it easily accessible via car and buses but if you want to want or bike there it's no problem at all, it approximately takes 5/10 in the bus to get to Piccadilly station and when you are there you find many shops and fast food stores, many night clubs are also present making it great for nights out and there's literally an infinite amount of activities

Manchester is the perfect fit for anyone who loves big cities and busy night life. Manchester metropolitan university is no longer than a 10 minute walk from town and and all the restaurants catering to every palette!

Coming from London, Manchester proved to be the perfect size - not too big so you can’t explore most of it but enough to keep you for 3 years. So much going and even though it’s a city university fallowfield night as well be a campus.
