Harrow Hall

What you can't deny is that you'll have at Harrow halls of residence. The strict 10pm curfew for loud noise and the patrols security do all night will not stop you from having fun but instead will fuel you with rebellious determination and provide an experience of what I can most closely compare to the London squat rave scene. The security, if caught on a good day can be bribed with conversation and banter but their leanience goes only as far as complaints, if squat raves aren't your scene you can shut the whole thing down with one call to reception and continue your lonely halls experience. The showers, although prone to setting off the fire alarm are en-suite and the freedom of whiteying in private is liberating but also uncomfortable if if it's someone else's bathroom you have to defile. The unrefurbished decor of the 'peasant block' bedrooms even though outdated can be cosy if decorated well and become the social hub as there are no living rooms or comfortable seating anywhere within the halls. Overall the halls themselves were lack luster, days spent dreaming of a sofa and shared tv are filled with bordem ignited mischief. If slipping into a k hole and utilising the on site student bar are your accommodation needs this is the place for you, if peace and quiet are your jam the snitch life is an easy one to partake in. 20/10 Don't knock it till you try it it will change your life

The location is fab close to town and all other facilities you might need, accommodation is also pretty standard only issue is the bathrooms are tiny!! And don't look nice

Although the location is good, being right next to Northwick park station which is on the Metropolitan line, and is also right next to the Harrow campus; my overall experience of halls was that this wasn't a great place to live. It was hard to relax in halls: there was no sofas or comfy chairs, the dining table was a breakfast bar with four stools per kitchen despite being 6 people per kitchen. The stools had no backs so you were constantly hunched over. There were ensuite showers which was nice however they often leaked into the bedroom carpet and there was no ventilation meaning the whole room would get damp. The lighting in the kitchens and bedrooms were incredibly artificial meaning that it was an overall tense place to be. Security was unfortunately far too tight meaning they would break up any congregations of people playing music at 10pm making it difficult to socialise and all parties would end swiftly. They by far weren't the worst halls of residence I've heard of but still they are a poor attempt of a place to live provided. It wasn't an enjoyable place to spend time and you couldn't relax there (which is essential for being able to study effectively) so the experience was ridiculously overpriced for the quality of life they were providing.

The location was fine however I lived in the more modern blocks. The bedroom was really big which was great, however the kitchen was incredibly small and shared by 10 students, which was horrible. The kitchen was always a mess because 10 people to a kitchen meant it was always a struggle to clean. We also had a curfew at 11pm so security was always making us stop socialising early.

Overall I would say that the experience of living in Harrow halls was very satisfactory. The security guards patrolled nightly which was always reassuring, however, the lack of communication with the reception desk and residents was appalling.

Decent location. About 15-20 minute walk from a Sainsbury's or Tesco. 25ish minute journey into the centre of London on one line, so that's good. Internet was okay, but would sometimes go out, leaving you no way to upload assignments. Hot water would go off too much, leaving you unable to shower. Everybody I met was kind and sociable. You can drink in the kitchens together, but music needs to be off (or quiet) by 11, otherwise the security will come. Only four bar stools per flat, even though there's six people in a flat, and you can't bring in extra seating. No real area for socialising in the flat, apart from one common room between the entire accommodation, which was okay. Cleaners come into kitchen and do a good job! Value for money rated low as when you pay £162 a week, you don't expect to lose internet, or have a tiny room or even lose hot water for hours on end. And that 11am Friday fire alarm, god... Good people there, but pretty pricey. But what do you expect in London? :)

The location of the halls are quite decent due to easy access to the underground, and the harrow on the hill shopping centre which is not too far away from the halls. However, the closest shop and cash machine is quite a long walk away. The facilities are very much standard and is nothing special but the basic accomodation room. The building does seem as if it needs refurbishment just to freshen up the aesthetics and also there are some parts of the building which needs fixing. The social life here is almost rubbish no ones around most of the time and theres never any events or small parties except on a Monday. My personal experience here would be no more than a 4/10. However, it is very handy as its a 1 minute walk to my university

A small, damp room with thin walls and intrusive staff. These halls were great to begin the university experience, especially when you’ve left home for the first time. But the quality of care that they provided was so minimal.

The location is perfect as it is on the university campus, meaning you are always a 2 minute walk away from all of the uni facilities. However, this can become slightly claustrophobic as you pretty much live in a 'Uni bubble', which can be overwhelming at times. Socially; it is great. We all study creative subjects (As it is an arts uni), meaning that it is easier to find things in common with people and make friends.

Room smaller than other halls at other universities especially for price (but you are in London) and size is not bad once you've moved your things in - quite a lot of storage space. In a flat there are 6 people usually with similar interests - you are all are at a creative campus. Security quite strict with noise and parties at the beginning which is annoying during freshers week but slowly they get more and more relaxed. Nice location - doesn't take too long to get into london but also get to see greenery and outdoor which is refreshing in a big city.

Location is good, nice kitchen but only 4 chairs when for 6 people which is annoying. Room is nice but not modern and mine is constantly cold because radiator goes off every half an hour.

Like prison at times, but mostly fun. Shame about the poor location as it could have been very good.
