An underrated city with plenty of places to eat, things to do and people to meet! Lived here for a while and I go out A LOT and I'm always finding new things to do when I go out with friends. There's always something going on in Leicester, you just have to know where to look. Definitely v student friendly

There are a lot of places to go in Leicester for food so you are always spoilt for choice. However, in terms of activities these are limited and only a number of fun things to do but nowhere near as much as in London. Highcross is the shopping centre and has many highstreet stores. Overall it is a lovely city but it does need revamping as it is starting to look quite run down!

Home to a colourful array of culture and cuisine, Leicester combines traditional English heritage with a diverse cultural scene. The city is full of quirks, excellent food, and passionate football fans. As the final resting place of King Richard III, and Bradgate Park offering as a refuge for Lady Jane Grey, wife of Henry VIII, it is riddled with rich stories and history. You can enjoy English staples in pubs like The Loaded Dog, or relax near the beautiful Bradgate Park with High Tea and homemade scones- it is a place for everyone. Venues such as The Cookie hold live shows, and are very popular among students and young professionals. Local coffee shops like Saints of Mokha and The Tiny Bakery, close to Victoria Park, add a personal touch to the city with their kind hospitality and delicious coffee and pastries! If you are also into thrifting, there’s a vast array of good quality charity and vintage shops down The Lanes or High Street to choose from. Transport is good, with it taking as little as 30 minutes to get from Leicestershire into the heart of the city. Leicester can be a home to many.

Leicester is great; from old, rustic cafes to fancy restaurants. The city is buzzing throughout the academic year, but there are places where you can disconnect from the noises and spend some quality time with yourself. City centre is close to every university and has a variety of pubs and places to spend a nice, sunny afternoon. People are great; you won’t see a single person that is not enjoying life living in Leicester. Nights out are a must to bond with your new friends. Also, there is a verity of shops where you can get great deals as a student, and each one is right around the corner. Leicester is known for its sport. True fanatics of football have the stadium a stone thrown away and surely they won’t wanna miss a thing.

Leicester is a very multicultural city. It is not the ‘loudest’ in terms of things going on but once you scratch the surface there certainly is. Sports, theatre, cuisine are all there in a wide variety of things to experience. Also, you have rural Leicestershire a 15 minutes drive away from the city, which offers you beautiful countryside.

Leicester is a great place to go to as it has lots of things to do there. There are hundreds of food places, shops, cafes, tourist attractions and much more. There is generally a lot of stuff for students to do when they are out like clubs and pubs and much more

There are some great places to eat out and go out for a fun day, with both family and friends. The are cheap restaurants for people who do not want to spend a lot of food.

A lot of nightclubs and city life, massive shopping mall in town with all of the latest shops and a huge primark just outside, a really diverse community and the people are very friendly, loads of halal and hmc places to it, I'd reccommend oodles noodles on evington road, loads of dessert places also, there's a range from cheap food shops to the more elegant and expensive ones, Leicester hands down has the best Indian restaurants.

The nights out get repetitive as there’s not much variation but it’s still fun, the food is great and there’s an amazing amount of variety of food options.

Night life is good as there is somewhere to go out dancing every night of the week. There is a good variety of music, from your classic night club to alternative and rock night clubs. There is a good atmosphere due to the football games that are regularly on, however prehaps due to Leicester being a relatively small city there is not a great deal to do other than shopping and partying. That being said in the recent years Leicester has been improving and providing more entertainment places such as a great crazy golf place. It is important to note that although I have felt safe in Leicester, as it is a growing city, there have been more occurances in which I and many others have had reason to feel unsafe due to crimes such as mugging, theft (especially bike theft) and burgalry often targeting students.

So Leicester is very diverse but very small. If you are a student Leicester is the place for party’s on the weekend and enjoying quietness within the week. It’s limited to things you can do though as there isn’t many places to go for example there isn’t no crazy golf or ice skating however It has a cinema, boost trampolining so it’s about how you make it fun for yourself.

Highcross Shopping Centre is full of top branded companies and also the food in Leicester very good. Trampoline parks is located in town. Leicester mainly shines for night outs. More than 10 clubs in town with a wide variety of music genres and artist. Your value for money is worth in Leicester, accommodations are safe and designed perfectly. Leicester FC is also near campus where Leicester FC matches are held.

I enjoy food in Leicester as you can walk down the road and find any cuisine to your liking. The food here is also relatively cheap and student friendly. Transport is at times rendundant as I can just walk to town and uni.

Leicester's night life is really good with many options of places to go to especially club republic and mosh! But also for a drink or primos before hand locker room has an amazing atmosphere so would highly recommmend

Cebtre of the country so not too far from most peoples home around the UK. Good variety of shops in the city shopping centre, Highcross. Varied bars and clubs, republic and mosh would be the main clubs, but bars like locker room and walkabout are also a good motive. Cheap on student drinks, but no pub better than the bowling green. Petty crime is quite high so be aware, and just there is a lot of homeless people in town.

Leicester is a nice area. The shopping centre is good and there are things to do. There are restaurants which are local. There are clubs however, I have not been to a club unless it was an event. But overall I have enjoyed living here and it's definitely a University I would recommend to everyone. I think the area is ideal for university students.

Good for food. Very diverse and multicultural. Some good shopping centres and decent value for money. Not a lot to do if staying for long periods of time and not many tourist sites.

Such a diverse and historical city with amazing shops, restaurants and nightlife. The Highcross shopping centre is huge and has a great range of shops that I don't have in my hometown like Urban Outfitters and AllSaints. Transport is so good too, with buses and low fare taxis going just about anywhere.

Great city overall with great restaurants and good cinema. Decent night life. Multicultural. Lots of different things to do. High cross shopping is great...especially at Christmas time with all the lights

Leicester is very multicultural which is good, there are lots of different restaurants serving all kinds of food. Shopping is good, the highcross and haymarket are good as well as a fruit and veg market. Nightlife is not great in own experience. Clubs aren't great and can be rough - especially when events are on. Certain parts of Leicester are dodgy and I would avoid - such as bede park. I would not reccoment walking through there on your own in the evening. My friend got mugged.

Initially Leicester was quite standard but over the past year nightlife, entertainment, food etc has flourished. Plenty of events on, great vegetarian food and better diversity than anywhere else in the UK. A little expensive to rent near the center but overall cheaper than a lot of places whilst still being within an hour's reach of London and central in the UK. Having 2 universities makes for a great amount and diverse range of students
