Opal is modern and has the benefit of having an en-suite!!! They have weekly events like yoga, cheese and wine nights and cafe night...and which student doenst love free food! The WiFi is decent and the walls are very thin which is not ideal but all in all it’s a great accomadation

Spacious rooms, very close to campus and city centre, there's great facilities such as over 20 washers and dryers. The security system is very good too, as well as the post system.

The room and flats are modern and 5 minute walk from uni, close to town and the train station. However, as the halls are so large, it becomes very antisocial, very quickly and not ideal for first years. Sometimes they mix first and second year students and thus isnt ideal either.

For my third year at the University of Leicester, I’ve lived at Opal Court, which is a hall of residence managed by the university. It’s been excellent. There are five reasons why I would recommend Opal Court. The first reason is location. It’s only a 10 minute walk from the library. And depending on the building which your lectures are in, you might have only a 3-5 minute walk in the morning. The second reason is the choice of room size. You can choose from standard, large or a studio. I’m very happy in a standard room, which, if you fit smaller suitcases under the bed and on top of the wardrobe, offer more than enough space. Alternatively, larger rooms offer a lot more extra space and a double bed. The third reason is the number of flatmates. Flats at Opal Court have either 5 or 6 bedrooms. That’s a nice balance between having some flatmates you can talk to without having too many that there is constant noise and you are unable to form meaningful connections or friendships with. The fourth reason and easily the best thing about Opal Court is that all rooms are ensuite. It is been worth the extra money for the shower alone – a fantastic power shower that makes me want to spend too long in there. The final reason is the service and facilities. Reception is open 24 hours a day. And on the two occasions I’ve needed something fixed, that has also been taken care of within the same time period. There’s also a common room with pool, table tennis and Sky Sports on a large television screen. Do I need to say more?

Really good location but a bit overpriced for what youre getting. All the rooms have an ensuite whereas the other halls in Leicester are shared bathroom. A lot of international and older students stay here so it gets really quiet after freshers.

There are plenty of halls to choose from in Leicester but I loved mine as the building was so close to campus (5 minute walk away) and being close to a supermarket and the centre of town too was brilliant. Being able to get to lots of places quickly was brilliant and made life a lot easier for me. The rooms (all ensuites) were a good size and it was easy to make mine feel like home with pictures and things. Opal Court is divided into 4 blocks of flats (between 16 and 40 flats in a block approx.) with five bedrooms per flat who share a kitchen. This is good as it doesn’t get too crowded or noisy and you aren’t struggling too much for fridge space! :) These halls are popular with international students so there is always plenty of social events and outings organised by the events team. The residential advisors are always very friendly and helpful too.

Opal court is a good accommodation in the sense of having a common room where you can get together with friends. The ensuite rooms are nice, spacious and good for first year. Good distance to university as well. Overall not a bad accommodation

The accommodation is located at a 5 minutes walking distance to the main campus which is the only good thing about the accommodation. The rooms are very small and not worth the price (5.5K for a single en suite), the walls of all the rooms are thin so you can literally hear your neighbours speak and if you have a complaint, the accommodation team aren’t bothered and you have to deal with it the whole year. Would only live here for the location.

I feel isolated. The room is old and dusty. I do not feel homely at all. However, it’s just 5 mins walk to uni and the building got a subway.

Opal Court is in a really great location - really close to uni and to the town centre as well. Rooms are good size (& all are en suites) and there is always plenty of social events going on in these halls and others nearby.

The location was good, very close to the university, but a little far from town. The social aspect was good, met a lot of other students and got to know them well. The rooms seemed standard for a university halls, they were a little small and could do with some modernising but they were pretty decent.

Really enjoy my room and the facilities available in the common room. Courtyard looks lovely and good access to bins. However there have been issues with boilers and leaky ceilings in some flats. It is also hard to meet up socially as the common room is for all residents where as there should be more locations for a smaller group to meet up easily. Great location close to the city centre and campus.
