Nixon's location is great if you want to be closer to uni in first year. There are blocks A to K, half are red brick older buildings and half are more modern buildings (these are more expensive of course). On multiple days a week, there are planned activities such as zumba, yoga, movie night, etc in the common room which gives you an opportunity to make friends.

Cheaper but you will not get good option for any near takeaway or restaurants. Various option for room and near to the city center. They have various event every week.

Location is excellent, with the accomodation being close to the university, Morrisons, Odeon and the train station. Social experience is poor with little communication between flatmates. Standard of living is acceptable with a decent sized room, although the kitchen was in poor condition upon arrival and the showers aren't too great either. Not recommended for first year students

The location of the halls of residence was the best thing about it. It is 5 minutes from the University and around 20/25 minutes walk from the town. With supermarkets and the stadiums 5 minutes down the road it is an excellent location. The social experience of Nixon Court was little/none. Personally, it was very much isolated. I believe there was a few coffee events arranged but the inclusion of students wasn't very good. My room was basic, with a sink basin, desk, wardrobe and bed with a single window. The room was fine, nothing great nothing terrible. The facilities at Nixon Court were also basic, unless you lived in the more expensive blocks which were recently redecorated.

Location is within a 10 minute walk from the uni which is great. I stayed in block D and facilities were reasonable for the price, however, we were having problems with mice in 2017/18 year. Kitchen is massive in a hall for 10 so there's plenty of space and three showers and toilets is plenty for all.

Socially and location wise - amazing. Quality of rooms - poor. Some rooms in different blocks were nicer than others. My block was deemed uninhabitable after I had moved out which was a bit worrying.

Social experience was amazing, friendly people, up for a party and to also chill out and be wary of sound Location was great, not in oadby so relatively close to city centre and on the step of university. I stayed for a couple of months and facilities were basic, didn’t look the best but did the job

The social experience was great! I was there in first year and there were lots of gatherings and house party type nights. Made many good friends. But the actual room was pretty dated, shared showers were horrible reminded me of prison or something, and the kitchen had more of an industrial feel than a university one. Aside from those things it was convenient having a reception where you could ask questions, get help and have your parcels delivered there. Think there was also a bus service which ran to the local supermarket which is helpful.

Nixon Court is really close to the campus, less than a 5 min walk. The rooms are a bit expensive for what facilities you are offered so I do not think it is really worth it and I am not going to be living here again next year. There are lots of events with food and drinks so it’s a great opportunity to meet new people.

Beat thing about nixon court is near to university. Another good thing is they have various events every week where you can make good friends. Maintance service is also good. Bad thing is you have 1-2 food take away and atleast in university hall 1 ATM should be there but we have to go at university to withdraw money. They have good cleaning staff every week they come and clean common areas.

The fire alarms are always going off in this hall and they take ages to stop ringing. In addition to this, the alarm is so loud that you have to exit the building!!!

Overall since I enjoyed living with the people I lived with, it made the overall experienve a lot better however, rating th accomodation itself, I would give it 1 and a half stars as it was absolutely attrocious, and the price we paid we were getting robbed baiscally. Thw showers didn't work for more than 2 weeks, the sink leaked and so much more.

Location is good in terms of the university as it is just a 10 minute walk away from campus. However it takes about 40 minutes to walk to the city centre and 40 minutes to walk to the student village, where most other students live. The rooms are quite standard but the bathrooms are not good. The kitchen is old and was not even cleaned from previous tenants so we had to remove old food from cupboards during freshers week.

A good location in terms of University as it is just a short 10 minute walk away. However you are very far away from the student village which is quite lonely. The kitchen and rooms are ok but old and were not even even cleaned from the people living there before. Socially not the best accommodation at all.

firstly the location of the halls is great as it's close by to the university and the student union. as well as this the halls is a short walk from the city centre. the social experience is great as you can easily walk between blocks meeting new people.

Decent rooms, some a lot fancier than others, big kitchens, had a good time there, some social areas but people generally just use their kitchens for parties and such

Social experience very good, unfortunately was placed in a flat with people who were polar opposites to myself so ended up moving out within a month.

Types of rooms are good. Common room is one the main attraction of nixon court. Near to university by walking distance of 5 minutes. Cleaning services are excellent. On site laundry available. Shopping ceneter is near to by 20 minutes of walk.

I moved into Nixon Court as a postgraduate student this year and have an adapted ensuite room in the older blocks. The Good: The room and bathroom size is pretty good, plenty of room to add a few homely touches. The kitchen is large, with two ovens, two sets of hobs and two sinks as well as the fridge and freezer which is really useful when more than one person is cooking at at time. The heating system is really good, even in the snow I was nice and warm in my room. Nixon Court is also about a 10 minute walk from campus, making it easy to use the library in the evenings. The Bad: The room was not very clean when I arrived, particularly the shower as it was covered in mould. The carpets need replacing as they are stained from previous years and I had to buy rugs to cover the worst marks up, try as I might those stains would not budge. I'm on the ground floor and my window faces out onto a courtyard, so I either have too have my black out blind down or let people stare directly into my room (my middle ground solution to this had been to put a shower curtain on the window, which lets some light in but people outside cannot see in) so I think we really ought to have been given some vertical blinds or net curtains to help with this by the uni. The black out blind also needs to be taped to the wall at night as it allows light from the street light outside in down the side and directly onto the bed. The Ugly: As a postgraduate student I find Nixon Court much, much to noisy. I'm use to some level of noise as a student, however Nixon Court booms with music and loud shouts pretty much every night of the week. I chose to live here as I was under the impression that it would mostly be postgrads, mature students and international students living in the blocks. However due to a shortage of accommodation, a problem that has been getting steadily worse at Leicester for years, there are now a lot of freshers living in Nixon Court. As I'm on the ground floor I am constantly woken up at all hours by drunken freshers shouting and shrieking, thats after their predrink music has kept me up past midnight pretty much every night of the week. I do my best to remember what I was like as a first year and try to block the noise with earplugs. I don't want to ruin the first year students fun by grumbling at them. I know it did me the world of good to get my partying out of the way in my first year! However I lived in Oadby, where I was surrounded by only first years and therefore could not impact on older students. I cannot deny that as a masters student who's in at 9am most days it difficult to sleep properly at night. I spend most of my lectures very hightly caffeinated! As I am on a high contact hour course as well I don't have the chance to make up the lost sleep during the day. The RA's are not all that helpful, as their policy is reactive rather than proactive. You have to call them to make a complaint which doesn't really work when its noise outside being made by different people every 10 minutes. The posters that have been put up simply note that some people might be more 'sensitive' to noise. This is fine for Oadby Student Village when the entire population are freshers, but does not really suit Nixon Court as a space for older students as well. The freshers have a year of fun that doesn't count, I have one year to do my best in my masters in order to make doing one worthwhile. These two worlds do not mix and Nixon Court does little to remind the freshers that there are older students with needs different to their own living with them. I really would not recommend Nixon Court for older students. I think the University needs to have a look at the way they advertise Nixon Court as well, as currently it is misleading as it really isn't suitable for postgraduate students with the level of noise created by the first years.

close to university so only took about 10 minutes to get there, the facilities were okay, there were sinks in the bed rooms and the bedrooms were a decent size. In terms of social experience, it depends on who you are living with. The main downfall with this accommodation is that it is rather loud, especially when people are coming back from nights out and the fire alarm goes off a lot.

I live in block D and believe it is worth the money I am playing. Shared bathroom and kitchen which is big enough for all of us

Good location, only ten minutes from the university. Loads of free events run by student ambassadors. Place is cleaned twice a week and has good security that is available twenty four hours a day.
