The good- Bede Hall is a good choice of accommodation if you don't mind sharing a bathroom and kitchen, would like a low(ish) price of £99 per week, and you want to live close to campus. Bede Hall is located on Western Boulevard, so the walk to campus is very nice. It's on the opposite side of campus to the city centre, which is a disadvantage, but the traffic is fairly quiet, especially if you get a room on the far side of the building. The security is quite good as entry to the building requires an authorised student or staff card, and your bedroom locks, as well as your assigned cupboards in the kitchen. Furthermore if there is an issue, you can call DMU campus security to your flat. The kitchens are usually adequate and have oven, grill, toaster, kettle etc, although they are not cleaned professionally so the cleanliness depends on who you end up sharing with. If you have a mobility problem or a physical disability, there are accessible rooms and facilities on the ground floor. The blocks range from two to four stories high. Bear in mind that there are no lifts when choosing your floor. The caretaker is great at helping if something is broken and is generally very friendly. In the second term he was my first point of call whenever anything went wrong. The rooms are a reasonable size and having a personal sink in your room is convenient. The rooms are well furnished and generally in good working order. The bad- It can get noisy occasionally with parties in flats, as well as outside when people are getting back from their nights out. Having a room overlooking the courtyard is great in the winter, but in summer people congregate outside a lot and it can be loud and/ or annoying if you are trying to study. I found the Hall manager to be unhelpful. She was never friendly and quite often absent. I did not find her any use when addressing issues within the flat. She made promises e.g. a second bin or a new bin lid that she never followed through on. Other considerations- No TV, no sofa or other meaningful social areas besides a kitchen with a dining room table. Laundrette- operated by "Circuit" was close by at the halls and usually functional. It only got busy on the evenings.

Comfortable accommodation for a very good price. Welcoming staff. Very good location : 3 minutes walk from De Montfort Campus, 15 min. to the city centre.

Bede Hall is one of the most social and amazing university accommodations ever! It’s so easy to access and it’s so close to uni. Although there could be up to 10 people living there, it doesn’t feel like it and it’s worth living with a large amount of people so you can start your uni experience. Many people who live in halls do end up living with them another year and often they are friends for life

£99 a week- not bad comparatively. Pretty good value for money. Bede Hall is a five minute walk from the campus centre of DMU, and also located close to a Tesco Express and several pizza houses. Lidl and Narbough Road are also within a ten minute walk. The accommodation is a modern building set around a courtyard in the middle. Flats hold between 8 and 10 people each and there are sinks in every bedroom. Toilets are shared, two per flat. There are also two showers per flat. Accessible rooms, including showers and toilets are available. The rooms are a reasonable size and the mattress is comfortable. The is good size wardobe and overhead cupboards, although the cupboards are too high for even many taller people to reach the back of, and therefore are not convenient. There is plenty of shelving around the desk and the desk has chairs. Under-bed storage is also available. The hall is modern and airy. The kitchens are of a good size, although I have had difficulties with the fridge and freezers. You get 1-2 lockable cupboards in the kitchen, although the bathrooms do not provide toilet paper or soap. There is an on-site laundrette. A standard wash costs £2 and £1.50 for a dry. The drums are quite large although the app/ card system of payment can be unpredictable.

Loved Bede Hall! Had the best experience here, met amazing people and the location is great, only thing I’ll say is you get what you pay for, the halls are pretty basic but the kitchens are huge and you meet so many people in the courtyard. I’ve loved my stay here so far and wish I could stay another year!

Halls bathrooms were kept clean by staff, however the rooms are very old and damaged and carpets are stained. Halls are very expensive for what you get, the rooms are tiny and the beds are very uncomfortable but it’s okay to live in for first year for most students. However as a student nurse I was there longer than the other students and it became very cold

I enjoy living in Bede hall! It’s minimalistic, but has a good amount of storage which I love. Only downside would be that it can be quite loud due to students. And the rooms are quite dull and dark.

Good value for money and really sociable because of the big flats and the courtyard in the middle, they don't deal with issues very efficiently but things do get done
