James Baillie Park accommodation is located between the University and Headingley. The location is great because you are a short walk from all the bars and shops at Headingley but still within walking distance to the university campus (about a 20/25 minute walk). It is also a good compromise on price between the more expensive accommodation like Central Village and the cheap, further out accommodation like Lupton. All the flats have a shared kitchen then usually 6 bedrooms, each with an en suite. The bedrooms are small and dark, but it’s nice having your own bathroom. I was in a room in the basement which meant that I didn’t have a nice view from my window but if you get a flat higher up in the buildings, they’re lighter with better views. Living in James Baillie is a great way to meet people as it’s a very sociable halls of residence, with lots of parties and pre-drinks happening here. Don’t expect to get much sleep living here as there is always a party going on somewhere in your block (even at 6am on a Monday). Overall, I enjoyed living here and made lots of friends but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a quiet, peaceful flat!

Very social halls. Has a common room too. However, for what you pay the facilites could be better and you still need to pay for washing, unlike other halls which give you free credits

Great place to live, really social and easy to make friends. About a 20-30 minute walk to uni but it's a nice walk through the park. Some things could be better in the room but overall really happy.

James Baillie Park is a lively residence full of amazing students and incredible staff. A short 15 minute walk from campus and 5 minute walk to nearby Headingley gifts students the ability to enjoy a peaceful surrounding on the outskirts of the city whilst still being close to all the action.

The bedroom I have is nice but the bathroom had a slight silver fish infestation. The kitchen facilities were good but when I arrived at the start of the tenancy one of the cupboards in the kitchen was completely broken. We also had an issue with our oven door and facilities removed it a few days after but didn't fit in a new one until 3 or 4 weeks later. The reception sometimes closes early so it's annoying when you're trying to collect parcels. The radiators also turn off after a certain amount of time so you have to get up and turn them back on. The accommodation is also quite far from the majority of the other uni of Leeds accommodation

Amazing halls! Extremely sociable, everyone is lovely and a great location in Hyde Park (right in the student area and you don't feel like you're constantly on campus all the time). 100% recommend!

Great location as it is out of campus and leafy. It isn't the newest/best decorated though. But lots of space. For the price youd be better off going private but for the halls 'experience' its not bad.

Many facilities available, a large room with a pool table, lounge area and TV provided. Ping pong table also included. The halls are very clean. Very socially active halls which is the only drawback and good thing at the same time as it can be hard to work at JB

James Baillie Park so far has been amazing. They put in a lot of time in terms of organising mixer events e.g. bbqs, fun fairs and trips to ensure you settle into uni life and meet people straight away. It's a larger accomodation filled with great people so you are bound to get along with someone here. It is definitley one of the more louder and sociable accommodations, which if you are like me appreciate! It's a bit further away from the university however, it is well connected with the bus stop at the end of the road and if you want to walk it the journey through Hyde park is beautiful. Also, by its placement in Headingley/Hyde park area you are in a really fun student area with all the restaraunts, pubs and supermarkets you need! It also allows you to get to know the area of which we most likely will end up living in second/third year. In terms of the facilities you get what you pay for, there's a few technical/practical issues from time to time but nevertheless good.

Very social feel, beautiful forest surrounding area and close to Headingley shops. Only downsides are walk to uni which can take up to half an hour and the state of our kitchen wasn’t great (microwave never worked and oven door fell off.) Wouldn’t say it was worth the price but it was a very social place if you like that and don’t mind a lot of noise at night.

I absolutely loved James Baillie, everyone was so friendly and seemed to either have similar interests or just very open to trying new things. It was a bit far from uni but I never felt isolated. In the first week, everyone was so friendly and that seemed to just carry on throughout the year and into my second year. The facilities in my flat were fine. They weren’t anything special but as it was my first time living away from home I didn’t feel like I needed anything too fancy. The rules were relaxed but I always felt secure and maintanence sorted out any issues promptly

James baillie was amazing, you constantly felt very safe and it was exactly what you needed from a student room

Big spacious kitchen, huge shared bathroom with a bath, and my room is big and matress very comfy. Such good value for money for what you get!! The most social accommodation by FAR. And a 25 minute to uni, which is quite far but not too bad.

Very small room, dark not much light. Far walk from uni - 30 mins, not ideal for first year. Is close to headingly however and Hyde park student area. General warden supervision not great. Has bad reputation.

Great location, 20 minute walk to campus and a short walk to a variety or student pubs. Great social life, lots of good people. spacious kitchens to have parties in and lots of freedom to do so. Small room but don’t spend a lot of time in there.

Great location, 20 minute walk from campus and a short walk from a variety of student orientated pubs. Social life is amazing, great people. Room is rather small, but spend most of the time socialising in the kitchen which is great for having people round in.

With James Baillie a 25 minute walk from campus, the location was great as it was close enough for me to walk to uni every day. The Sainsbury’s in Headingley was only a 10 minute walk away which was perfect for grabbing whatever it was that I needed (I’m not a fan of online shopping). The creek behind the halls were a little gem and it was so nice walking down there to clear my head from time to time. The rooms were small but of a good quality and the members of staff in the office were always on hand to collect parcels. I often went in there just to have a little chat with Roger as he was such a lovely guy! It was very expensive to live there but I would recommend James Baillie to everyone applying to stay there.

Was a really fun and relaxed halls with a really nice area and location. However, there was a lot of mould and the conditions of the rooms were pretty poor

James baillie is a great halls if you want a social life and for nightlife as everyone likes going out. The location of these halls are good because it is in between the two student areas of Hyde park and Headingley.

Everybody agrees James Baillie has a really great social setting, and is a great distance from the Uni (20 mins walk). It's not too expensive and has all the facilities you would need.

Fun halls and great people, good nightlife. If you want to work don't come here, couldn't recommend it more for first year!!

A nice distance from uni, not too far or too close. Great facilities but circuit is really expensive and would be good if washing machines were in flats. the most social halls in Leeds, such good fun and an amazing year. So many flat parties and after parties and a really good buzz around the place. Room doesn’t have enough storage I’d say, but otherwise good.
