Charles Morris Hall

The location was excellent given it was directly on campus and so it only took me 2 minutes to get to anywhere I needed to be. The facilities were largely good. I had an en suite which was something that was quite important to me. The bathroom was nice and easy to clean. The kitchen was large with two fridges, two hobs and an oven. There was also a cleaner who came to take the bins out which saved me the effort. One of our hobs didn't work at all which was disappointing and basically meant only one person could actually cook. The social experience was disappointing. The halls are essentially one long corridor, not divided into flats so it's harder to bump into flat mates or other residents. I didn't feel very comfortable with my flat mates at all, I'd asked for all girls and vegetarian and wasn't provided with this at all. My room was great but often way too hot, even with the window all the way open and when it came to my summer exams I was often disturbed by noise from lawn mowers.

Very high quality accommodation. The layout of Charles Morris hall is perfect for freshers to meet lots of new people and socialise. There’s a very welcoming atmosphere with various drinks receptions. The only critiscism I’d have is that the rooms are a bit small for the money paid, compared to other accommodations like central village. Overal the accommodation is great and is definitely one of the best fresher experiences you can have in Leeds.

Charles Morris Hall was a great place to experience first year. The rooms were really nice and while on the pricey side, I found the communal kitchens to be a great way to meet people. So close to campus and catered, perfect for settling in to uni life.

I was in Dobree House where you had to share a bathroom with one other. Money I paid was not worth the quality, but location and included food were good.

Charles Morris is a lovely, modern Halls in the heart of Leeds Uni campus. Located just across from the back of the Students Union, it is right on the doorstep for every aspect of uni social life… from bars, to a restaurant, the student club (great for the Friday night club night, Fruity!), a shop and the refectory where all the food is provided. A fully catered halls, it takes all the work out of uni by providing fresh meals with so much choice… from wraps, to pasta, pizza, street food, a wok bar and so much more. Inside the halls, all rooms are en suite, the kitchens are modern and light, there is a common room with a projector, snooker tables and a ping pong table, so you'll never be short of things to do! It is always kept clean (with all communal areas being cleaned daily), and the staff at the 24 hour reception are always cheerful, friendly and happy to help. I couldn't fault these halls and it has made the transition of moving to a new big city so much less daunting. I can't reccomend it enough!

Full of stuck-up, rich, superficial people who think they are better than everyone else. Or sheltered boring private school people who have no life experience or depth whatsoever. Rooms can be nice but you could get stuck with a horrible claustrophobic one like mine due to the layout. Anti-social and hard to meet other people from any where except your own floor - no one uses the kitchens as its catered and your fob only lets you into your floor and block, so you have to get your friends to not only let you into their rooms, but their floors and blocks which is incredibly annoying. The food selection is good but at £200 a week Charles Morris is ridiculously overpriced. I would go to Lupton or James Baillie for social reasons over CM.

Charles morris is a very socialable hall. The rooms and bathrooms are of very high quality. The kitchens are also spacious, ideal for socialising. The food that you get from the refectory is also good.

Basically, the rooms are expensive. It was around £192 a week for me. The rooms are small but that's expected for halls of residence anyways. You get a meal card with the accommodation so it's catered and the food is actually pretty alright. You have a wide variety of choice so there's always different meals you can have each day.

The location is amazing, food security, lovely people, it was great experience and the food was very nice too.

Good experience overall but some negatives. Great location and nice to be so nearby everyone else. Food wasn't great and was always quite noisy. Enjoyed dobree house in CM but wouldn't choose the same accommodation again. Found that CM attracted lots of well off kids who sometimes could be quite snobbish. Room in dobree was tiny and always too warm.

Great location, right next to the refectory where we get our food as catered students. Also right on campus so close to virtually every building, especially geography which is about 30 steps away. Rooms in dobree ( old buildings) are small but nice enough, bathroom is very new and nice, with good lighting. Room lighting is poor, but thats to be ecpected. Adequate desk space and a good amount of storage/drawers/wardrobes. Flats are of 11 people so beware, you're more likely to have a few terrible people as housemates if there are more of you in general. Also it's harder to get to know all of them. Social experience is strange, you either get on very well or not at all/ignore each other. And its gard to meet other flats. There are no communal parties. Kitchen is old school but very big with 4 fridges and 2 cookers with ovens. Also comon room and laundry room are in the new building which means you have to travel to use those facilities.

You will not find a hall with a better location. Two minute walk to roger Stevens, one minute from the refectory, and five minutes to the nearest tesco. What more could you possibly need?

The location is excellent, very close to my lectures, the refectory for food and only a short walk into town. The social experience is again excellent, with large flats there are lots of opportunities to lake friends within and between flats. The Hall exec has but on some events too which is good. My room is good however when I first arrived the light wasn’t working which could have been checked before I arrived. There have also been a few faults that were not my fault such as the electronic bathroom door lock not working which has been annoying, but other than that is very good.

Charles Morris has a great on campus location and great facilities. With washing machines and dryers in the kitchens and compact bedrooms with lovely bathrooms. Good food services that do get a bit repetitive but wide variety helps to prevent this. The only problem is that the price is so expensive it attracts a type of person - “daddy pays”. Also quite druggy but isn’t everywhere in Leeds!

Charles Morris is amazing for social life and getting to know people with 11 in a flat. I shared a jack and Jill bathroom with one other girl which was really nice. The room was a good size with a desk. The halls were unisex so was great to get to know boys and girls and had a great kitchen living area for pres and socialising. It was annoying having to take your washing to the washing building and going back when it’s finished and going back again after drying but it wasn’t an extra charge: the food was also included, which although wasn’t amazing in terms of being healthy was great for convenience and wasn’t too much to deal with moving away from home and having to cook myself, that wasn’t an issue. Overall loved my time at Charles morris and on Campus so location is perfect although very expensive accommodation but was worth it.

Location Is great it's close to the union, gym and my lectures, also a 10 min walk into town. However the rooms get cold and heating button doesn't work so they've given me a portable heater, and the kitchen is freezing. Also a bit unfair how Whetton/Dobree pays just £10 less but our beds are single and we have credits for our washing which gets used up so fast while Storm Jameson gets it free.

Location is perfect as it is right on campus so you can roll out of bed 10 minutes before a 9am lecture! The social experience is also great with a large common room and by being a 1 minute walk away from 2 clubs! However the price is not so attractive. The food at the canteen is not the best food but at least it saves you from cooking every day.

-great location -staff always very helpful -food was good -rooms very clean, although small -very sociable, different to other halls as was more like a hotel -cleaned often so did not get dirty like other student halls I visited

Amazing location, right at the heart of the university and seconds walk from the union. Very convenient and great facilities.

I'm lucky because I've got a fairly cosy room. The residence is catered so you never need to worry about not being able to make food in time for your lectures. We have a communal area where there are ping pong tables and snooker tables. The reception staff are really friendly and resolve all issues for you.

Premium location for getting to lectures and going to the refectory (the university canteen) as it’s directly beside the student union and five minutes or less from all the main uni lecture buildings. Great for social experience, especially during Fresher’s week. You usually circulate between different floors and meet a lot of different people. If you get assigned Whetton and Dobree, instead of Storm Jameson, though then you’re not really getting your money’s worth. The rooms are somewhat small and you have an en-suite. I know people in Lyddon Hall with much bigger rooms paying less than I am. I’ve never really used to the common room as it’s in Storm Jameson and it’s never been warm enough yet to sit in the courtyard area. WiFi really good, never had any problems with it.

Yeah I really didn't like the people. Everyone is really boring and there is not a good social atmosphere. Really posh, really elitist, and the rooms aren't that big. Food is a rip off and you end up eating junk. Not a real party atmosphere. Luckily made lots of friends elsewhere!

Definitely one of the most social halls in Leeds. Very easy to meet people and host pres as the kitchen areas are big enough.

good location but living on campus sometimes a bit claustrophobic, definitely have to go out of my way to get fresh air compared to those with a walk. On the plus side, do get to my lectures in 5-10 minutes, great for those morning lectures. good how flats aren't separated, can easily get to all 7 kitchens on my floor which is good, doesnt limit who I hang out with. does have a bit of a premier inn vibe to the rooms, depends if you're into that. good pingpong and pool facilities downstairs food plan in the refectory is good, good range of food, however must have dinner by 7pm, sometimes restricting.
