Lancaster is a lovely city in the north west, it has a charm To it that is comfortable And welcoming. While the nightlife scene is seriously lacking, there are no shortages of pubs and bars around; presently there’s around 62 And many of them are included on the Lancaster ale trail. The crowing jewel of this city is undoubtedly Williamson park. Situated at the top of the city, it provides views Of the bay all the way to the Lake District. There are events that take place in the park all year round And it’s the best spot in town for a picnic. The canal is one of the best features of Lancaster, stretching across the city, and while it may be unsuitable for swimming, it provides an ambiance that is very soothing.

Very little shopping, limited with clothes. Very little selection of restaurants. No real sports center. Not a good variety of clubs

Lancaster itself is a stunning place but there is not a lot of variation and once a lot of things have been done eg. Visited restaurants, there isn’t that much to do here. Lovely but definitely better for short term visits

Lancaster has been a really lovely town full of really nice people. As an international student, it might be scary to be in a new location, but being here puts a bit of pressure off. There's much to do, and the town might be small, but everything is pretty accessible.

What Lancaster lacks in terms of restaurants and shopping, it more than makes up for in pubs, hipster cafes and cuteness. Best places to eat: The White Cross Study Rooms Go burrito Best things to do: Castle Williamson Park The Lake District

Decent takeaways and good dessert places. Great atmosphere as the city gets packed with students. Traffic is bad because of the one way system. More shops needed to provide more entertainment for people.

Very nice, all the essentials but is more like a town centre than a city. Great transport, OK shops and restaurants

Good pub life, although not many night clubs. Loads of student deals on all the time, and a wide price range of venues, so there's something for every occasion. For shopping, there's not much compared to larger towns, but Preston is only 20 minutes on the train, and manchesters an hour is you're wanting better shopping.

Quite dangerous to walk around, nightlife is awful have to go out of your own way for a good time, uni accommodation is amazing however..

Aswell as being rural, little Lancaster has the best cafes and shops, all overlooked by the gorgeous Lancaster castle, the night life is buzzing with new uni students and some of the best bars and clubs

Lancaster is a great place for eating out and good pubs. You will never be short of options for a place to eat or a variety of food, there is pretty much everything. The pubs are authentic and atmospheric and serve good drinks and cocktails. The transport isn't great, the buses are frequent but the usually get full quickly due to the big student population. A night out in Lancaster is alright, the Sugarhouse and Dalton Rooms/Glow Rooms are the main clubs, but there are other smaller clubs around as well. Drinks are reasonably priced but I would still avoid buying drinks in town if possible. There isn't a lot to do in Lancaster entertainment wise, it is a historic city, so has many historic sites, but if you aren't into history this isn't great. There is a cinema and escape rooms but not a lot else.

Small town not very much for students to do aside from uni! Could definitely do with more chain restaurants and bars and a large nightclub.

There’s not much in Lancaster but there’s enough. A small, historic town that provides the right mix of night life, shopping and relaxation.

It's a lovely historic city, lots of history to be found. A few good places to go for a night out but not much to do! Luckily Preston, Manchester and Blackpool are near by.

Shopping and nightlife in Lancaster is acceptable, 2 clubs in the town centre and a handful of shops too. Buses are always running to the City Centre so you can always go for some shopping and some food.

Lancaster is an off city campus so if you're used to the hustle and bustle a big city it doesn't quite have that... However the campus has lots of bars and it's a short bus into town where the nightlife is a good laugh...

Not for students wanting a good night out, very small and only a handful of club/bars/pubs. Food and shopping are actually alright, a fair few places to choose from, but you'll finish wandering around after about an hour or so. Good for a quick look in specific shops as they're easy to find. Choices for food is probably the best thing about Lancaster town centre. Lot of the big favourites such as McDonald's, KFC, Dominos etc. Little to do during free time, although there is cheap gym in the centre which is a bonus.

There are very few quality nightclubs, there's not much in the way of food, but there are plenty of decent pubs for hanging out at

Great location near coast, lakes and dales for those who like outdoors activities. Good shopping in town and cheap bars and food.

Easy travel to coast, Lake District and Dales for days out and loads of outdoor activities, good pubs and cheap!

Lancaster is a fantastic city. Barely bigger than your average town, it is beautiful and historic and also sits on a hill, meaning that the top of the city provides gorgeous views across Morecambe Bay and the Lake District. There is plenty to do, good shops, good nightlife and a safe atmosphere. It is relatively cheap and has excellent transport links within the city and across the North West.

Beautiful and incredibly safe area with fantastic value for money rent-wise. One Sainsburys is big enough, but there are plenty of other corner stores scattered around. No shortage of clothing shops and packed with wonderful restaurants! Only shortcoming is the cost of transport from the university to the city centre— £2.90 return for a 3-mile journey seems a bit of a stretch. Apart from that, I couldn't fault this place and have truly found my home here!

Very good uni, everything is close to the uni. I can walk to the big super market, restaurants... Highly recommend

Just out of town. Bit too far to walk but good cycle routes. Transport links are good as busses leave frequently 24 hours a day.
