I had a lovely time staying here it's off campus but the location is still close, although at the bottom of a very large hill! The rooms are a good size, much better than some of my friends in more popular halls. Each flat is small only 5 people but as a whole building we were all very close.

I lived in Llewelyn Mews in my first year (last year). It is small and on a residential street - this was not made clear on the website when I was applying - so I felt very isolated from the rest of the student community. It is far away from town, although only 20 mins away from uni (but up a huge hill). The facilities are basic and there was a silverfish infestation. There wasn't enough storage space and there wasn't really a communal area to use apart from the kitchen. I had to walk to birks grange (about a 5-10 min walk) to do my washing with heavy bags which was very inconvenient. There is no green space just a concrete car park overlooking Trainline as our only outdoor area to use during nice weather. Overall a very disappointing halls of residence and not good value for money at all.

For the cheapest accommodation, you get decent living standards: decent kitchen (except only 3 freezer shelves for 5 students) and rooms were a nice size: big desk, decent wardrobe and personal sink BUT awful heating system - it would come on a boost when you pressed it but would only last for an hour or two - not very good when you wake up in the night and it's freezing. As for the location, it's a 20 min walk from uni and town - unfortunately its at the bottom of the uni hill which means you have to walk up cardiac everyday - but at least I got exercise! Within the halls, I am only linked with one other flat, which is filled with mature students so it isn't very social.

When I first walked into my bedroom I had seen prisons on documentaries with nicer rooms that this. The bed was simply a metal frame with a disgusting duvet on top. The living room was so small that no one ever used it and the fridge/freezer was simply not big enough for 5 people. The only reason I chose cook mews was for its parking spaces which consisted of 5 spaces for 40 people - luckily not many people brought there car. The cleaners did not clean unless the place was already clean which made no sense. We were also dumped right next to a train line away from any other halls on a residents street. Whenever anyone from cook went to other residence they can back green because of there open plan modern kitchen living room and they're nice wooden big beds and ensuites and the feel of a community because there were 7 in their flat not 5. There were 3 boys in my flat and one other girl. One other girl?? It is not a nice place to walk into when you've got no one there you know and you're scared about meeting friends etc. I would tell everyone not to go to this halls it will ruin your first year!
