Egham Town

Town is a 15 minute walk away, so can be annoying at times. The campus is great. Not much to do in the local area however town over has much more.

There is not much to do in egham, it is a very small town. Links to London are good and there are good restaurants in staines and Windsor which are very nearby. There is no nightlife in egham.

Egham is quite a secluded little town, with not a lot to do in the area itself. However, it is near other towns with more to do such as Windsor and also London, just 40 minutes away (with the right train!). It is quite useful to have these towns around if you’re looking for a busier nightlife too; although, the SU has gotten significantly better if you know and are friends with the right people! They not only put on night time events but activities and trips during the day too.

Overall, egham does not have much to offer for university student who desire good night's out. It is a quite place with a few locally owned cafes and shops but not much else. The location is beautiful both the town and campus with a range things to do but if you do want a good night out London is not too far!!

The town is rather small, it’s lovely and quiet but presents limited opportunity for night life, food, and retail. There are no major fashion retailers around, few fast food shops at high prices and a bus service which runs a limited schedule.

Egham is a 'quaint' town and by that I mean rather dead. No nightclubs other than the Students Union Venue, quite a few pubs though. There's an Iceland but people usually spit on you if you shop there. Waitrose you struggle to buy a pint of milk for under a tenner. Best bet is to go for the Tesco. There's a Sainsbury's just the near side of Staines which is a bit more quiet of you have a car.

There isn’t much nightlife in Egham for uni students, so if you want to go for a night out away from campus you have to travel a bit further into Windsor, Reading or London. There are however many restaurants and cafes in Egham itself, which are good for going out with friends. Egham doesn’t have many shops, although there are great local shopping centres within a good distance in towns such as Staines, Windsor and further into London.

Royal Holloway university of London is located just outside of West London. The campus is a 15-20 minutes walk from the station and it takes 40-60 minutes on a train to get to London Waterloo depending on the train. An off peak travel card used to be 10 pounds with a student discount, however, in the morning it is way more expensive. Today I attempted buying a travel card and it was 27 pounds without discount and 18 pounds with discount.

The town is a small but regardless it has alot more than what would be expected. With the use of tesco, waitrose and Marks & Spencer food there is enough to do grocery shopping. There is even a kaspas for a dessert or so. However, night life is pretty dead and there is barely anything to do. But it has room for improvement and the potential.

The location is great if you are looking for somewhere with little distractions, yet so accessible to some great cities, such as being 30 minutes away from central London. The nightlife however isn’t so great within the immediate town and mainly rely on the university nights that are provided, otherwise we would travel to London or to Windsor for a night out.

The town itself isn’t great for nights out, and in terms of nightlife Egham is pretty slim. However, Egham is on the Waterloo line so transport to London is easy and relatively cheap. There’s a Tesco which makes for easy access groceries, and a few shops on the high street. Overall it’s a useful base for uni but I wouldn’t say it’s great.

Very quiet town, a small amount of shop enough to do you essential grocery shop but nothing else around! Runnymede Chicken and ribs is the best chicken shop in England! but apart from that a quiet area. A few pubs but full of old men!

I’m not going to lie, the area around Royal Holloway University is shit if you’re a clubbing type of person. There’s a couple of pubs around but not much else, and not a club in sight (other than the SU on campus). The shops are okay, there’s a Tesco, Waitrose, and shops like Superdrug and Boots for essential beauty items. However, there is not much in the way of clothes shops which is also pretty disappointing. The transport is fairly good, with a train station about a 15 minute walk from the uni, and buses to and from the uni run regularly. I guess the best part about being here is that you are close enough to London to go there easily - but not too close that it’s busy and full of traffic. All in all, I’d give Egham town a 5/10 for location (mainly due to the lack of clubs and bars).

Not much to go out, especially restaurants, prices are same (sometimes even more) than London and the shops are just for essentials, I wish we had at least wilko here or poundland or something, I have to travel to staines. For the day, we don't even have anywhere decent to eat, either snacks or expensive restaurants. A pret or such would be nice too. I like the waitrosse though, it's very clean and nice. The public transportation is extremely overpriced. One bus stop journey is a 1.5-3£ single trip.... That is just ridiculous and cash isn't even accepted.

Boring town, with good connections to London. Student housing is average, and shops and amenities are ok!
