Overall a quality house. Standard living conditions, although we had a small problem with mice that was slow to be adressed. The cleaners are lovely and you generally get a more down to earth person than some of the fancier houses. Pollock is not super convinient for going places but an uber is easy enough. Good food, but timings are tights.

I had a really great first year in Grant House. Pollock Halls in general is definitely the best place to be during your first year at Edinburgh University - so easy to meet people and socialise, and the fact you don't have to cook is really helpful for easing you into living away from home. Grant House in particular was great - it had a really friendly atmosphere. The rooms were a good size and it was all generally quite clean. The only I had was with the mice!

Basic but clean and reasonably up to date, all the staff were super friendly and warden is enthusiastic. Loads of stuff to get involved in.

Ok place to stay in, very social but food in pollock halls not that great. Ends up being very repetitive and not particularly tasty, a lot of food very stodgy and unexciting.

Great location in Edinburgh, close to George Square and Kings, Pollock Halls as a whole is such a social hub that you can meet a wide group of friends from any of the houses, nearby self catered accommodations also broaden the social aspect. The rooms are pleasant, and the people I met in halls are some of my best friends, the food is pretty good and the facilities are excellent! Being close to Arthur's seat is also lovely as you can take a break from revising and experience the awesome view of the city!

Halls were about 25 minute walk from where most lectures and teaching takes place. This was a bit inconvenient but Edinburgh is a city university, not a campus, and so I guess that's what is to be expected. On the upside it forces you to exercise. Social area consisted of one common room.. I guess this could be improved on. The rooms are small but clean and have an individual wash basin. Bathrooms are shared. Rent is reasonable as it included all bills and room cleaning once a week. No problems with internet and good wifi speed.

Very expensive halls for what you recieve, paying for the meals and a lot of the time they weren't nice so id have to go out and pay more money for a dinner. 3 or 4 times at least the boiler broke down for days and stuck with no hot water for showers in mornings and took ages for it to be rectified. Would definitely of chose different halls if I was to do it again.
