The overall feel of Chad's is great; it's a friendly place and the building is beautiful. However, a lot of the rooms are old with poor heating and the rooms can vary a lot, so you may be paying the same as someone who has a much bigger room than you. The food can also vary from poor to good depending on what they serve

Food has improved massively recently. Awesome location in Durham, right next to cathedral, shops and clubs. Good at sport, very small college. The formals are the best in the uni because they are traditonal but still let you get as drunk as you want.

Location less than 10 minute's walk from town for all houses. You literally walk out of the main door to the Rose window of the Cathedral which is an incredible sight. The houses are old, and there are often problems with the boilers etc- however, they are beautiful houses and with many, the right size to get to know everyone in your house with a mix of different years (important for Chad's). Quite a lot of difference in room size for the same price. All accommodation is catered and the food varies in quality, often leaving a lot to be desired. What constantly overrides any qualms about the accommodation is the community feeling- the bar is one of the best (and cheapest!) of all Durham colleges, there are beautiful communal areas and gardens; most importantly, you have the chance to get to know almost everyone in college, and the friends you make will last a lifetime. It's not for everyone. but if you want to involve yourself in university life with a small strong community, Chad's is for you (so long as you like potatoes).
