Coventry is a small city that has all you can need in a small area - bars, resturants, shops, entertainment. However because of the size it is limited. It does have easy transport links to Birmingham which is a much larger city with a more thriving night life (culture, gigs, night clubs).

Small, yet multicultural city full of gems around the city centre to explore. Shops are withing close proximity to most student accommodations, within a walking distance. Coventry is geographically located in central England, therefore trips to other cities is so easy and relatively cheap to do. Once you get used to Coventry, you will absolutely love it!

Coventry is not a perfect town. Yet, it has all the ingredients to be one. Firstly, the location. It is remote enough to feel outside a hustling and busy city life, yet it is close enough to London (1hr by train) and Birmingham (20 min) in case you need it. There's a huge Ikea, cinemas, good intra muro transport links, some decent Asian restaurants etc. There are many students as there are 2 unis, but unfortunately it lacks a bit of diversification of night out venues. But for such things, you can always go to nearby Leamington!

Not a very happening town but its nice and peaceful. A lot of small cafes that are not discovered and rated! The transport isnt the best... the bus Drivers don't even stop for you! Terrible!

Great place to study, no many things to do in your free time so you can focus on your studies. Only one place where you can go out and neither that one is not very good. Great places where you can go for a coffee or a beer. The university is great, very modern but the lecturers are not very committed to your success. Rents are very expensive and not accessible.

Coventry is an very interesting place for young people. It's buzzing and lively as the majority of its population is university students. There is a lot of nice restaurants and clubs. There is something going on every night of the week of the club scene, Kasbah's Mondays, JJs is amazing on a Tuesday, Empire on a Wednesday is a blast. There's also a lot of cute pubs that have really good food and you definitely get a good value for your money, some of the students favourites are QuiddsInn, The Phoenix and Spon Gate. The overall entertainment scene is great as well, the city hosts a lot of festivals, fairs, concerts and other interesting events.

Coventry has all the essentials that a student will need. An ikea to have a cheap lunch or to shop for home goods. A huge shopping centre with multitudes of shops inside, from clothing to food. Easy access to coventry town centre from neighbouring universities, it is the perfect place to spend your time.

Coventry is a city with very little charm. Horrendously bombed during the blitz, Coventry was rapidly rebuild in the post-war era, and it shows. However, despite its bleak and unnatractive appearance Coventry has a few hidden gems - for a night out Kasbah is an excellent club with a huge outside smoking area with outdoor bars as well as live music in the second room and a cocktail bar upstairs. For shopping I would recommend the Far go village slightly outside the centre which has vintage clothes sales and a number of small locally owned stores. There are significant cultural sites in Coventry as eell such as the cathedral which was close to obliterated during the blitz and the transport museum which gives an insight into the cities main industry. The food in Coventry is also pretty decent there are a number of reasonably priced food outlets as well as street food around. Ultimately, on the face of it Coventry may not seem appealing but when you look under the surface there is a lot of enjoyment to be had.

The nightlife here is just right for me. Theres 3 or 4 main clubs, that range from rock/indie to charts and house, and there's also plenty of pubs and bars if that's more your cup of tea. There's usually a bar crawl and various events during freshers week that should help you get a bit more familiar with what's on offer in the city. I've certainly not got bored yet! But even so, for students who maybe like to party a bit more than myself, as has been said above, Birmingham is only 20 minutes on the train, and there are buses throughout the night if you're not keen to stay out until the first train home again! Taxi fair split between 3 or 4 people doesn't work out as too expensive either! Certain nights in Coventry are awesome but repetitive (same music, djs etc.)

Coventry is a lively town with something occuring all the time. For instance there is a number of fairs that happen. Loads of volunteers who introduce you to new things

Coventry is a very diverse city full of students. However, despite being a city I think nightlife and shopping is very poor. I think it is easily accessible for students and value for money

The midlands are alright however nothing will ever beat London, amazing people, transport isn't as versatile as London, food is quite explorative and the shopping is mediocre.

As a student at the University of Warwick, which is based in Coventry, I would say that the nightlife is ‘adequate’ but not fantastic. Warwick is a campus university so the SU is okay for cheap drinks, and there’s always lot of other students there, but you struggle for anywhere else unless you hop on a bus to Leamington Spa. Luckily, bus connections between the campus and Leamington are frequent and run late into the night. Bog standard for supermarkets etc., as you would expect. Good value for money generally to live in the area. Overall Coventry is an okay place to live, but the friends you make make the experience ten times better.

My university, University of Warwick is located in this city and for me this city has everything for students but if it is not enough, Leamington Spa is always there.

I have just finished my first year at Coventry University and have lived away from my home (in London) in university halls. Coventry has great transport links with the train station a short walk from the city centre. London midland and virgin trains are frequent and Coventry’s central location makes travel across the uk very easy. Virgin trains can get you from London to Coventry in under an hour and London midland prices when booked in advance and with a rail card can be bought for as little as £4! Birmingham is also about a 20 min train ride if you seek designer shops, a bigger city vibe and excellent nights out. The bus station in the heart of Coventry has long distance national express buses at cheap prices as well as local buses. However local buses can be quite expensive, if you’re buying a day saver (£4) however a 4 week pass may be better value for money (£30). Luckily Coventry is a small city and buses are definitely not essential as walking from one side of the ring road that surrounds the city centre to the other takes a mere 15 mins. There are 3 major clubs for uni students, Kasbah, JJs and Empire as well as many other smaller clubs. JJs is very affordable with a £3.50 wristband student night and next door to Whetherspoons provides a great place for predrinks. Kasbah is my favourite with different rooms similar to that of Pryzm. As said above Birmingham is very close and have a larger range of well known clubs including pryzm, popworld and clubs with a range of music taste. Although Coventry doesn’t have as wide a choice as Birmingham I think it is great for students as all the clubs are within walking distance unlike many other unis, meaning students save lots of money of taxis. As well as Birmingham, Warwick uni is a 20 minute bus ride away and Leamington spa offers a variety of nightclubs, bars and shops. One of the only downsides to Coventry is the concerns for safety in West Midlands area. In my opinion due to the business of the city travelling in groups and during the day is safe, although incidents in the Gosford area have occurred in the past year. Shopping facilities in Coventry are large with west orchard shopping centre in the middle of the city centre with most major high street shops. If designer shops are more your taste Birmingham’s Mailbox is perfect! Nando’s, pizza express, wagamamas, las iguanas, dominoes and a vast array of take aways, fast food restaurants and cafes are present in the city centre. Coventry also recently won city of culture 2021 and has restaurants from around the world, with many Asian restaurants and supermarkets in the cultural food square. The skydome arena has a cinema and an ice rink and is close to the city centre. There are also many hidden gems such as an escape room, the Transport Museum and many dessert lounges. The skydome also has a “pure gym” with another “pure gym” and a large “JD gym” in the city centre, all with good student discounts. Although the city centre is often called a ‘Concrete jungle’ just outside of the ring road there are many parks and green spaces. On the whole Coventry is a great city to live and study. It has good transport links, shopping and facilities. The uni is very well regarded and the centre of Coventry is very well adapted for student living.

There are only a few clubs in Coventry for students, main ones including Kasbah, Empire and JJ's. It becomes too repetitive that it becomes boring. Better night life is in Birmingham which can be difficult to get to and back. Coventry is a small city so you can almost walk everywhere. Buses are cheap and convenient too. There is now uber driving around Coventry which helps too. The shopping center is useless. For shopping you have to go to Birmingham. Cheap train tickets helps. In town there are Las Iguanas and Wagamamas ... That's it! Drinks are cheap at the pubs, but filled with locals which can be a turn off. Entertainment... What entertainment? Theres a cinema and sports bar (rileys) which are in walking distance. Everything else requires bus or cab.

Canley area: nothing to do. But close to university. Shopping is limited, there is a Tesco and a few high street shops in the shopping centre. Time usually spent going to campus.

Really nice location, would say. The University and the conditions they offer are really great, nothing to say here. Recommend!

Coventry centre seems quite rough with some crime. The shops are quite good and varied. However, there is little green space and it isn’t a particularly nice atmosphere for eating out or nightlife etc.

Bit far from the station but very close to shopping centre, it would have been better if there station was closer

Coventry is honestly such a lovely city. Everything is really cheap and the people are really friendly. There is a decent amount of shops and places to eat and it also has really good links to Birmingham and London!

Nice small town, everything is easily accessible. University is situated close to both halls and nightlife. Shops are in walking distance so there’s no need for a car.

Overall, Coventry is a peaceful city to live in, the students fill the city and during semester breaks you can see how it really is. The night outs are fun as usual with a fun group. There are a lot of places to eat and drink which are affordable but it could have more clothing stores.

The uni campus is situated on the edge of the city cantre about a 5 minute walk. It is a nice but small city and city centre. Everything is in close proximity and walking distance which is great to save money on buses and taxis. Coventry is full of your standard shops such as newlook, topshop, primark and wilkos and places to eat (nero, costa, wagamamas, nandos) however to find the more quirky places you need to go out to the suburbs where you find more unique and nisch places to eat. The city has great transport links via train and coach to birmingham, london, reading, oxford and other places which are easy to get to and other places to visit and explore. The city has a lot of things going on at weekends such as the motor show, christmas markets etc and even more now being nominated city of culture for 2021 - there is something for everyone! Lots of weatherspoons which are popular with students for their cheap drinks as well as food and some nice bars and other pubs around too. The nightlife is average with about 4-5 clubs to choose from with student nights and cheap drinks which hits the spot for most students budgets!
