Location is perfect, only a 20 minute walk from most campuses and 30 to town. En-suite rooms which is great, but some houses have smaller rooms that others. 1 minute away from a uni study area and gym.

Definitely would not recommend to anybody. The Talys have a reputation for being the 'cool', sociable halls to live in, but Taly North is an exception. There are no social areas other than the tiny kitchens or if you walk all the way to the social centre, and it's a trek from uni/town/anywhere you might like to go. Plus, there are barely any parties like there are Taly South. The concrete flats are old and dated, the rooms are like living in a pint-sized caravan. Their saving grace is that, if you go for a medium or small room, they are the best value for money halls with en-suites, but that's about it.

Even though could hear everyone around you (including those in other houses) and having the fire alarm go off nearly every night, it was ideally located and I got along with all my flatmates.

Bathroom en-suite very small, shower needs to be separate No social space for flat or floor because kitchen is quite narrow Good amount of people for socialising Good to be near Tesco extra and sports facilities

It's very social, bedroom is en-suite which is good because you're living with people you don't know at first, decent sized room, big desk to do work, maintenance are fast with repairing stuff. Location is great, short walk to SU. Kitchen is big enough for the 6 flatmates. One issue is mould but maintenance fixed mine quite quickly

Despite its nickname being Taly Bronx... It wasn't as bad as the pictures looked. It's small but easy to make nice and a good sized kitchen! Tait North is really close to MC Donald's and Tesco, which is good as you don't have to carry your shopping far at all unlike those in tally south, taly gate and Taly Court. The bath room is small but well equipped and the bed rooms have a lot of space like shaleves, drawers and a big wardrobe. There is a cleaner that comes once a week so that stops communal areas getting dirty and there are 24/7 security guards on call if any thing happens and they also are really good at getting to be quiet during exam periods etc.

Very good location. Room size is ok, not a lot of storage in the room however. Social experience is not very good compared to taly south but it could be worse.

Bathrooms are way too small and beds are smaller than a single. Nice people and ok location however not extremely social.

All three stars for the people met and the good times experience, zero stars for the actual accommodation. Room was absolutely tiny and outdated, the en suite bathroom resembled a tiny caravan wet room. The kitchen was spider infested. The cleaner refused to clean half the time and thoroughly enjoyed fining the flat.

Loved all of my time there. Cheap accommodation, prime location! Definitely recommend! Amazing. Anywhere in Talybont is the best

The standard/large room is on par with most other university accommodation rooms I’ve seen. The complex is kept clean and tidy, and there is ample parking on site. The sportsman facilities are almost always used though, so non-residents use the parking spaces. It is very close to the big Tesco with everything you need but is very far from university, one of the furthest at 25-30 minutes walk.

Very loud! Always had the smell of weed in my room. Shower water pressure was bad, kitchen space very small - couldn’t even fit all of us round the table. Great location for split main/heath campus courses

5 min walk away from Tesco superstore, nearby pub is excellent, taxi rank outside the residences on weekend make it so easy to get to town at night. En suite rooms, good size, kitchen can get a bit cramped at times and the 25 minute walk to uni can be irritating on a wet and windy day but i think it’s a great way to get exercise each day so I never minded it. The residences had its own gym and 24 hour working area/social centre. It was also 2 minutes walk from pontcanna fields which are lovely on a sunny day. If I had to live in halls again I’d definitely pick Talybont

Good value for money and good location being close to big Tesco but quite a walk to uni. A basic room but good ensuite and did the job for the money: good storage and desk space. However temperature regulation not good - very hot all the time (especially in summer). Overall enjoyed my experience there.

The room was very beige and the kitchen was old and worn , however it was being redone the year after. All in all it was ok for the price and had an ensuite which was a bonus

Talybont North has a buzzing social vibe to the accommodation. Located closest to the McDonalds and Tesco shop, talybont north makes the weekly shop less of a trek than living in court or south (every little helps). The facilities are basic, and the kitchen space is limited for the number of occupants per flat. However, the rooms provide just the right amount of space and storage capacity for me to go about my daily life. Apart from the regular seagull alarm at night, taly north is a very decent place to live for first year.

Amazing location and social life. Very reasonable pricing and decent rooms for it. Very happy with access to the building and is easy to move in aswell as move out. Social facilities are good too.

Talybont North is fairly basic student accommodation. Some of the houses have smaller flats than others but have been ‘refurbished’. The only social space in a flat is the kitchen with a table and chairs; no sofa or lounge area which isn’t great if you have dirty flatmates! Rooms are an ok size for halls, and are a bit nicer if you get one of the standard size rooms as opposed to medium or small. Having your own en suite is great although Taly North en suites are a little like plastic spaceships/pods - and you can pretty much sit on the toilet and shower at the same time! The location, although being a fair walk to lectures depending on your building, is great as Taly North is right in the hub of first year student life along with all the other Talybont residences, and has the added bonus of being virtually right next to Tesco Extra.

The room is tiny and old and cold at all times. There’s damp everywhere. The only good thing is the social atmosphere. Nowhere to sit apart from plastic chairs round the dinner table

Room is ridiculously small, bed is hard and tiny. The bed in not even a single, it is half of that, my single duvet hangs off the side. The drains in the shower are constantly blocked leaving the bathroom to fill up with water. There is a sick stain in one of the bedrooms on the floor.

The room is nice enough, small, uncomfortable single beds and a tiny shower. The shower only stays at one setting which makes it hard to enjoy and the toilets only flush about once every hour if you try more than that the handle has no pressure in and doesn’t do anything. The social experience I would say isn’t as great as the other halls I’ve been to, this is because there are so many houses and people tend to stay with those in their house and not venture out. The location is really good for getting groceries as Tesco’s is right across the road and for drunk McDonald’s visits next door, however location from the university which is the most important is about a half an hour walk and anywhere from 40-50 mins to walk into central

Very basic, but did the job. Close to the university campus and tesco, as well as being five minutes from the gym. Maintenance are fairly good at sorting problems quickly.

Great social as one of the largest residences. Absolute treks away from uni & the city which I think affects you doing lots of other activities and is a hinderance. Good sized rooms but needs a living room as there isn't much interaction in the flat as the kitchen is too hot to sit in. But it's nice mates are all so close together. Conviently next to McDonald & tescos though.
