The night out culture is mainly based on who you go out with, it has a number of clubs and a huge amount of pubs. A large number of food places all ranging in value for money, however it can be expensive living here, depends where you're coming from. Large tourist culture becuase of the cathedral. Good transport. Regular bus service and 2 train stations.

Canterbury is such a calm city to live in. With nights out for the adventurous and nights in for those who prefer to stay in. It is also very pretty

I have been to Canterbury on a Saturday and it was not packed as I expected it to be. The river walk is really pretty, especially at this time of the year where there are a lot of flowers, like daffodils, and tree is bloom, like magnolia or cherry trees. In the city center people can find every kind of shop, from big chains to little independent ones. If you are hungry and you fancy something mouthwatering to eat I suggest you going to the Tiny Tim's Tearoom for excellent and massive scones (plain, with raisins or even savoury with cheese). You will not regret it at all :) The little town itself is very cute, thanks to the architecture, the cathedral and the atmosphere which made me think of middle-ages! It is an escape from the busiest town, like London that is just 2 hours or even less far from Canterbury by train. It is absolutely easy to get there, either with public transports or by car.

Canterbury is an incredibly beautiful city. It is quaint and has some lovely quiet areas with beautiful gardens and buildings. It also has great shops, restaurants and night life, all while keeping with it’s medieval heritage. The buses are usually really good, with there being one large bus station right in the city centre from where you can go most places! There are also 2 train stations, and all this is within walking distance of the town, making it an ideal place to live, if like myself you don’t drive!

All the positives of a bustling city with quiet aspects of the countryside; lovely rivers, beautiful parks alongside a great selection of shops and nightlife. Great transport links despite being fairly expensive. Many things to do beside shopping and bars too with theatres cinemas escape rooms and a wide selection of gyms + alternative activities such as yoga. Great vegan food

Canterbury is a city with such rich history. As a University of Kent student who used to live on Canterbury campus, being able to look down towards the town center and see the cathedral in all its glory really does take your breath away. There are such a wide range of stores in the center, also many pubs and restaurants.

Best place for a decent student life. People are extremely friendly and the town is so cozy. Canterbury is home

Nice quiet town, with friendly people. The nightlife is only good on certain days such as Monday Wednesday and Saturday other than that there isn't much going on in this city

Quite a pretty city and lots and lots to do. Not a fan of the nightlife but Maidstone is fairly close which is amazing to go out in. Lots of good shops and lots of other interesting places to visit but there are no activities like GoApe or something.

Wonderful small city with the nightlife of a much bigger place while remaining friendly. Countless bars - the best ones are Canterbury Tales and The Parrot, old pubs with wooden beams and real fires. The lady luck has a alternative crowd (mostly rock) with good range of cider. The pound is the latest open (until 3am) but very expensive - always busy tho and lovely inside. Two wetherspoons ("top" is Thomas ingoldsby and "bottom" is Westgate inn) top spoons is nicer recently refurbished with a pretty upstairs bar. There's also night clubs and bars but the above pubs are our usual. All in all a brilliant city both for hardcore partying, alt scene and the quieter cider drinker

Gorgeous city!! Loads of resturants, lots of shops including topshop and Jack Wills and hundreds of old-fashioned pubs aswell as some clubs that play the hits! The cathedral is beautiful and the city is so vibrant! I love it here! There are 2 train stations, the national express coach goes through and theres buses to everywhere! Only downside is parking in Canterbury is very expensive.

Canterbury is full of amazing opportunities for getting to and from many places. It has a wide variety of shops and resturaunts within the city centre. There is a lot of local transport including Uber, stagecoach and two train stations.

Canterbury is a lovely quiet place, away from busy London. A variety of different restuarants (vegetarian, vegan, halal and many different cuisines) at reasonable prices. If you are student, flash your student ID and you may bargain a good discount. Cathedral and West Gate gardens is a must to visit!

The shopping in Canterbury is great! A range of many shops, not great for my student bank account though haha. Went to Cuban last night for Halloween which was really fun! & spoooons for lunch!

The positives area dry accessible area lots of transport , location of university in centre of Canterbury, wide range of shops- some are cheap. Value for money fairly good however as it’s in a city could be expensive to live there , night life good - two clubs and many pubs

Close to centre o canterbruy so very accessible, many shops to see and use with a wide range so you don’t need to travel Far wasting money for any essentials you need to get. Shops include from McDonald’s and Greg’s to unique restaurants such as skinny kitchen and clothing like new look and top shop . Only disadvantages is the price as the living costs could be high there however I drive in so it’s cheap for me, also the campus is large so walking around is required. Night life is good as there is two clubs in the centre Cuban and chemistry - and many pubs . However due to the fact it is a small city they could have more ones as it can get repetitive after a while

Canterbury City Centre is beautiful. The shopping outlet is amazing. High-end shops and many restaurants and cafes. 3 floor primark and a 2 floor topshop. The town is spacious and is never overcrowded on weekends, market days, or Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, the gigantic Christmas tree that is set up in the middle of town is beautiful. It reminded me of home. The lights around the town and on the shops are truly gorgeous. The town is clean as well.

This city has everything you could ever need, all in a space that isn’t too big to walk around. It has an amazing variety of restaurants and shops, both chain and independent, and has options for every age and gender, as well as every budget.

For a small city it is THRIVING, everywhere you turn there is something new and exciting to do. Whether you like drinking or going to museums, Canterbury has everything you could possible need. Canterbury is so close to London and there’s even fast trains/ buses to the seaside

Canterbury is the perfect student town. 5 active clubs with student nights and deals, many pubs, cafes, shops and a lot of history and character. 24 h buses to campus and only a 40 minute walk. Pedestrianised, buzzing and student friendly. A bit on the pricey side.

Canterbury is the perfect town for students. Safe, quiet, pedestrian friendly, extremely close to campus with a 24h bus service back to the accomodations. Canterbury is rich with history and full of new shops, restaurants and hipster cafes as well as pubs and 5 large scale nightclubs. As a student in Canterbury you could go out every night (bar Sunday). Only downfall the town is quite pricey, if you need to bulk up the credit, it will be pretty easy to get a job in town!

The journey from UKC campus to city centre is really quick and buses are frequent, even on weekends and bank holidays they still come pretty regularly. The bus drops you off at the bus station which is literally right next to Whitefriars and very close to the main part of Canterbury. The shops are good and there is a good range of different places. There are some great places to eat and most offer a student discount, which is good as otherwise it could be fairly pricey. There are the touristy things to do, which if you're a student coming from far away to live in Canterbury, is good. The shows at the Gulbenkian and Marlowe are reasonably priced and good to see.
