Turing Houses

Very large living room space, spacious bedrooms with built in shelves/storage spaces and a large desk. There’s a transparent board above the desk which is a whiteboard which is cool. The only downside was campus security were particularly hot in Turing — a noise ban after like 8/9pm which was inconvenient for pre drinks. Good community sense within the house but not so much between other houses, unlike places like Darwin.

The location of Turing College as a whole is perfect. My house less than a 5 minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and 2 minutes from the reception, social area and washing facilities. Turing has an extremely warm and welcoming community feel, which I feel is highly important for having a good uni experience. My room is rather big in my opinion, plenty of floor space, desk space, wardrobe and shelf spaces. The window is huge with a large windowsill, which lets in huge amounts of light- I love this aspect.

The kitchen space was wide, there was enough fridge space and cabinets available for all of us. The living room area was wide and spacious plenty of room to hang out with the whole housemates and watch a mv from a projector. My room was spacious as well. And looks really clean and tidy. Wadrobe space was big, i used one to hang jackets and put in foldable clothes while the other could be used to hang long coats. Plenty of storage spaces throughout the whole room. Carpet was easy to clean with a vaccuum as well. Henry will be your new bestfriend. The toilets are cleaned every week by cleaners who'll come by at the allocated week. They provide toilet rolls too so that was a plus. I was worried about sharing a bathroom in the beginning, but that was pushed aside as my hsmate was really clean and neat so that was a plus. Overall, turing house was a great experience and i would definetely recommend it to my juniors!! The only downside would be that its further from central campus which can or not be a hassle.

The facilities have a full clean every week. The appliances are also very new and good making every day cook easy. The rooms are spacious for a single and provide a lot of study space and storage

Turing College is easily the best accommodation on campus and is by far the best value for money. The location is great, the facilities are top of the range and the space allows for maximum social experiences. I have had the best first year in the accommodation, living the best student life.

Turing houses were amazing- lived in a 12 bed house so made loads of friends when I got to uni to start with. The kitchen, dining area and lounge is all open plan and makes for great socialising and pres. The room is spacious even though only a single bed. The desk is very big with a lot of storage around the room. Overall very clean with a shared bathroom between every 2 people. Only disadvantage is that with 12 people comes more mess, especially in the kitchen, but guess that depends more on who you’re with.

Turing College is located 5-10 minutes away from central campus. The accommodation is clean and modern with spacious communal and private areas.

Really great living with 12 people. The kitchen is huge and the house is really social. Not so great for introverts. The house is perfectly equipped and the rooms are all a great size

Turing houses are in my opinion the best quality student accomodation available at the Uni of Kent, the houses are spaciousin both the kitchen/living area, and the bedrooms. You get a large desk area, perfect for at-home study, and the shared (one between two) bathrooms are new, clean, and equipped with a power-shower. Nothing negative to say.

Turing houses are spacious and well-equity, rooms are huge with enough desk/shelf space. Cleaners come once a week and WILL get pissy if people have left sides/sink full of washing up. Houses of 12 means your house is like a little community; the only people I spent lots of time with in first year were the people in my house. If you’re unfortunate enough to not click with your housemates (unlikely), it’ll be a bit difficult to get to know neighbours as the way Turing is designed means there isn’t much integration as there is in places like Darwin. 10 minute walk from Essentials/Venue (if you think that’s long, wait till you get an off-campus house in second year!!)

Best accommodation on campus. Modern, spacious and as well equipped as the flats whilst being better value for the money just to share a bathroom with one other person. Still miss it!

houses are great because there’s so many people, it’s like a little community. Only thing is a lot of people in Turing are snooty ‘my daddy pays my accomodation’ types. I had difficulty making friends outside of my house because of the way the houses are - there isn’t much opportunity to meet people in the houses even next door to you.
