Brilliant city, food selection, shopping facilities and overall student experience. So much to do in a reasonably travellable area.

It’s an absolutely amazing city for students! Great city! Meadowhall where you can find everything you need. Tram is wonderful too

The city of Birmingham is very good to live, especially because its cheaper than others cities. Further, the city center is very friendly.

University of Birmingham is different to any other university in that it is super close to the town centre but is far away enough to feel like you're living in your own little village. There are all the essential amenities nearby with great options for eating and shopping.

Very few nice areas in Birmingham, and those areas that are nice are plagued by the homeless. Student area selly oak is dirty and dangerous. Bin bag piles out on the high street. Several students attacked or chased by middle aged local men.

Lovely city with lots to offer in terms of nights out, culture and studying. The City Library is really good to use when the University Library is full! Good train network.

Birmingham has EVERYTHING but is also the best location for travelling to other cities as it is so central- a great place for home friends to visit!

Birmingham is the UK's second city, and you can really see this in how large and thriving its centre is. There is a good public transport system, great mix of bars, clubs, restaurants and entertainment across town, so whatever you're into, there'll be something for you. The Bull Ring shopping centre as well as New Street are massive hubs for shopping, eating and other entertainment.

Central to the whole country, Birmingham really is the most accessible place for students to be in. With the brand new Grand Central Station, you're only an hour or two away from Manchester and London. Then again, why would you ever need to leave the city? There's ample shopping centres, loads of places to eat, and best of all, it's all a lot cheaper than most cities. Birmingham is seriously up and coming, with renovations being carried out that will keep it as a leading city. Why else would it be rated by travel bible Rough Guide as one of the top 10 best places to live in the world?

Personally feel that Birmingham is second only to London for overall city life. There is so much to do, being the 2nd city you would expect so! The nightlife is obviously great, everywhere is so well connected with trains in particular a great mode of transport I feel. And the bullring is at the heart of the city, providing countless shops, restaurants and bars, there truly is something for everyone.

Birmingham as a location is a really good location as it has the bullring near by which means shopping is so easy and students can purchase food whenever they wish to. There is broad street which is mainly for the nightlife as has many different clubs that be open and these have very low priced entry which means it's a bonus for those students who are living the university lifestyle.

Birmingham is the youngest city in Europe, and it caters for the young adult demographic fantastically. There's loads of shopping to be done in the Bullring and the adjacent New Street, numerous clubs along Broad Street, and lots of pubs and restaurants (including many Wethershoons'!) everywhere! As it's a large city, it can be quite expensive, but there's always happy hours, McDonalds, and Primark! Every winter there's also the German Christmas Market, which is always lovely to walk down and buy some presents and food. There's great transport, with lots of frequent bus routes and train lines, plus the new tram system so wherever you live, you can get about super easily.

Massive city, lots of things to do not matter what your intrested in, pretty good value for money compared to other places. Easy to get around on the train but bus network is a bit complicated. Some issues recently with local council not collecting bins but been sorted.

Great location for shopping and night life. Plenty of choice for clubs, with most nights of the week having a good club open. Also great choice of bars, pubs and clubs.

Birmingham has a lot to offer but many of the things are not very well known or easy to discover so there's a lot of hidden gems known to the locals but for the tourist, it may be harder to find Birmingham as interesting as London

There’s so much to do in Birmingham from shopping to taking a walk round one of Birmingham’s parks or botanical gardens - which is easily done with the transport available. In Birmingham there is the bullring for shopping, many places to go out on Broad Street and restaurants and bars to be found in Brindley Place.

Selly Oak is great for students. It has so much variety in places to eat at fantastic prizes, some of my favourite: Yakinori and the Bristol Pear. It is not far away from Harborne for great restaurants or to the centre for amazing shopping. Selly Oak station is max. 10 minutes walk from anywhere in the town and is very cheap to get into town in less than 10 minutes. Alternatively, the bus runs at £1 single into the centre, too. Selly offers lots of fun things to do in the evening, with a new bar/club opened recently called Circo - has great student deals most days and a club event on Fridays.

Amazing for shopping and food. Literally every restaurant and shop I can think of. Really diverse place to live. Nightlife is incredible! Only downside is the homelessness and the amount of people who ask for money on the streets.

Birmingham is a great place to visit with friends and family. There are a range of things you can do to enjoy your visit. There are plenty places for you and your friends/family to go to eat! Places like Brindley Place have some great restaurants and bars, and they’re all just a walk away from the canal. Some even have a balcony view of it! City centre/Bullring is a great place to shop because of the variety of shops there is. There’s everything from budget to designer. It is also full of great places to eat such as Wagamama’s, Nandos, Pizza Hut, etc. There’s also China Town located right around the corner from the Bullring if you fancy some Asian cuisine. If you fancy a night out, there are plenty of clubs on Broad Street to party. There are also a few in city centre and a few in Gay Village which is in city centre too.

The location is great, about 15 mins from town. The nightlife is amazing. So many different clubs of different genres and the taxis and Uber’s are so cheap to get there and back as it’s not too far. Shopping is great, the bullring is massive and has just about every mainstream shop you can think of to get all your favourite things. There’s plenty to do from cinema, shopping, bowling, to ice skating, clubbing and eating out. Star city is about 30 mins away and offers all sorts of activities and restaurants all under one roof! Everything here is pretty cheap and so very good value for money; especially conpares to places in the south like London! Overall, Birmingham is amazing and I would highly recommend coming here.

Lots of things to do as a big city with lots of bars, clubs, restaurants and concert arenas. Lots of things to discover and find new things every time you go out. Big shopping centre to find everything you need. Lots of surrounding towns that also offer a good variety of shops that are a quick journey on the train or by foot.
