Birmingham is amazing for shopping. It’s main shopping attraction is The Bullring in the centre with a wide variety of clothes shops such as New Look, Primark, JD and Vans as well as many food shops such as MyCookieDough, Five Guys and McDonalds. As well as The Bullring for mainstream clothing (which can become very crowded if you’re not used to a city environment), there is also Custard Factory on Gibb Street which contains lots of vintage clothing stores including Cow and hosts several vintage clothing sales that are amazing value for money if you go early enough to get a great pick. I am yet to go on a night out because I’ve only just turned 18 but my friends say that it’s a great place to go out and meet people in places like Pryzm and I’m excited to go to Ghetto Golf as it looks like a great place to go. I have been to Sunflower Lounge to watch a few of my friends gigs and the staff are always really friendly and it’s a great place to chill if you’re looking for a drink and great music.

Growing up here has allowed me to explore the city over a long period of time and learn its ins and outs, and I have to say - there’s a lot more to Birmingham than meets the eye. It seems like your typical English city - packed high streets with fanciful restaurants, but the Birmingham that you may seek lies with its many, often hidden, communities across the city - there are plenty of towns and neighbourhoods that have come to be a part of Birmingham, but still have distinctive character. From the skaters of Quinton, to Digbeth streetwear, the foodies of Brindleyplace or even the various music scenes (Jazz, grime, RnB, classical) across the city, there’s something for everyone in Birmingham - if you’re not afraid to get out there and explore, or do quick google searches. The ease of access by the great Network West Midlands transport services makes exploration of the city seemless. You can get from inner city attractions like the Bullring shopping mall or New Street station to beautiful countryside such as Lickey Hills or Sutton Park in 1-2 buses. As for those more conventional, a classic night out can be found in the club/pub crawls at Broad Street, and other entertainment complexes such as Broadway Plaza and Star City can offer many attractions for fun for the whole family. Whilst it can be said that these can be found anywhere, in Birmingham these are much more easily accessible. Sometimes there are big seasonal events such as ice rinks, preloved clothes kilo sales, open air film showings or the famous Christmas German market, so it’s good to keep an eye out for those too - some are exclusive! At a glance, Birmingham may seem a bit standard or boring, but if you’re willing to dig a bit, you can shape out a Birmingham that you’ll personally love.

Birmingham is a nice city where everything is super convenient. Shops are accessible and the city centre is very easy to reach. Food is great as there are a rather big variety of them, from Polish to Thai and from Chinese to Singaporean dishes. Museums in Birmingham are pretty good too, especially if one is interested in history and art. People here are friendly and helpful so there's no worrying about feeling unsafe. There's a bunch of bars near the canal on Broad street for those who like having fun night outside.

Transport is good, plently of shops to chose from ranging from cheaper clothes store to higher end, a huge range of food shops aswell.

Night life very good, especially on weekends. A good range of classy and affordable restaurants. A great range of activities to undertake, such as the think tank and the cinema. The bull ring is legendary, one of the biggest shopping centres in the UK, meaning anything u need can be easily purchased.

A night out in Birmingham doesn’t have to be an expensive one which is in my opinion one of the best parts. A lot of clubs have drink deals including £1 shots and deals on multi buys such as Nightingales in the gay quarter and events such as Uprawr. The musics great and the locals are very welcoming, especially in the gay clubs. There’s somewhere for everyone when it comes to going out in Birmingham. There’s also the museum, sea life centre, custard factory and the bullring shopping centre. There are also a wide variety of restaurants including grand central and many many more that often offer a student discount too.

Birmingham is a nice place to be in as there is lots and lots of clubs to go to and also the bull ring where there are a lot of restaurants to eat at.

Despite the bad press, Birmingham is pretty decent. We’ve got the mailbox when we want to be fancy, digbeth when we want to be edgy, soho road when we want to be Asian, Selly Oak when we want to get mugged (jokes aside, Selly Oak is a #problem). But all in all, it’s a big city, relatively cheap and lots going on. 9/10 would recommend to a friend

Lots to do on the weekend, great restaurants to eat at, and amazing places to shop. The Bullring has everything you need and more.

Best thing about Birmingham is that it has lots of good places to eat - lovely food AND good atmosphere. Grand central is always introducing new restaurants so definitely recommend!

Birmingham often is put down as a city of concrete and industry but if you look clos e enough you'll find hidden gems (not just in the Jewellery Quarter). Nights out are great but nothing any major city wouldn't be able to offer. Every night there is a student specific night or some classier options for those not interested in the top 40. The only real benefit is the great and reasonable gigs on offer. With 90% of the UK writhing a 4 hour drive of the city, transport is excellent with reasonable costingbuses and trains from Birmingham New Street Station going anywhere. Any shoppholic will be satisfied with the Bullring shopping centre. Otherwise there are hundreds of independent shops and vintage sales in Digbeth, the up-and-coming part of town. Even if your must-have brand ain't in town then just take a train to London (from only £7) to satisfy your needs. Eating out can sometimes be impossible to decide with the variety on offer. Host to the award winning Digbeth Dining Club, new and interesting venues as well as the classic brands are all on offer. Especially for Vegans and Vegetarians with plenty of restaurants popping up to fit alongside the UK Vegan Society's HQ. Entertainment can range from 'rainy day' activities like a film or bowling alley to 'get out of the city' activities like visiting the mountain biking trails at Cannock chase or visiting Oxford or Leamington Spa for a day by train. Despite being in the midlands, you should expect to pay city prices from most things. However, look out for deals and offers which can make anything from a pint cost only £2 or a three-course meal out under £10 and you'll do just fine. As a Londoner and previous resident in Manchester, I was sceptical it could live up to my high expectations but it's done well to meet them. Highly recommend!

Literally have the choice of just about anything that you want from cosy n cheap to high end and fancy. Love it all, but my favourite is probably the garden room in Sutton coldfield

Birmingham is one of the best places for students to live outside of London in the UK. This is due to the wide range of activities and shops that are near the University of Birmingham. There is always something to do whether it is going to Poetry Jam or spending a couple of hours at the Bullring.

Excellent transport links throughout the city, usually do not have to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus or train. Most buses pass through the city centre too, providing shopping links such as the Bullring and high street, as well as accommodating for nights out on Broad Street. Birmingham has a bit of a rep for being rough, however I would say it's no more dangerous than any other major city.

Birmingham has many different shopping places, food places, and entertainment in a very close area. It has a great nightlife and there is a range of things to do.

Would love to visit again get the cabs are hard to reach out to, suggest visiting on a weekend and taking a car if willing to travel to clubs parties, let me know how it goes maybe ?

Birmingham is multicultural so has restaurants from all kinds of different cultures. It is nice to eat something different. There are different shopping centres such as the bullring, Fort shopping centre etc. Pricing is good. It does have a lot of places to have fun however it gets a bit repetitive, we need more places to go and have fun.

Lots to do. A bit rough. Lots of homeless people. Good food. Good nightlife. Fun City that isn't as expencive as London.

Nice city however the city centre be cleaner other than that it's nice and loads of shops in the bullring

Although Birmingham is a very busy city it is packed with the best shops, bars and restaurants perfect for a day out shopping for all the family. Or similarly for nights out or going for a drink it has plenty of bars and nightclubs to cater and suit every age group.
