After living in Belfast for almost 3 years, I could recommend it to anyone who's looking for a friendly city to live in. The weather is the only thing you'd dislike about Belfast as it rains all the time, but you get used to it. It's such a friendly city - everyone is so welcoming and kind. You could easily make friends at pubs or meetups as people are very open. There are lots of events going on and the comedy scene is growing rapidly, there are lots of theatres and comedy shows. I personally recommend the Lyric Theatre and the Accidental Theatre. It's very affordable to live in as well, accommodation is much cheaper compared to England and food is cheap too. Overall Belfast is a lovely city to live in!

Belfast has a good selectiion of clubs with cheap entries and drinks. Theres a lot of great places to eat including smaller businesses, shopping is okay but more centres could have more shops. Alot of things to do for cheap prices.

Has definitely improved vastly over the past few years. Is still a small city without a huge abundance of things to do, but what it lacks in tourist attractions, it more than makes up for in character and history. Every street has a story to tell with a bar/pub that gives the biggest Irish welcome. Cathedral Quarter is the place to be on a night out, and most drinks are half the price you'd pay in a similar place in London or Edinburgh. Could definitely use some improvements in regards to transport, but there is a frequent metro and glider service that runs around the city, and you can get to most towns and cities in Northern Ireland from Great Victoria Street on a budget.

Belfast is an incredibly cheap city. Having come from England to study at Queen's, I find most supermarkets are cheaper, the food and drinks are cheaper, people seem to be more friendly and it's a lot less stressful than living in the South of England

Great city for nights out, food, shopping and chilling. Very easy to make new friends in the citys many bars/clubs, and currently having new university buildings and accommodation built in the city centre.

Belfast is a vibrant tourist city with so much to do. There are many great places to eat, from fast food to 5star menus. At night there are plenty of bars and nightclubs to enjoy, ranging from Irish bars to techno night clubs. During the day there are lots of things to see including the Ulster museum, the city hall and Victoria square. Victoria square also has lots of shopping to be done.

With growing, top-class student accommodation hubs within the city centre and well facilitated universities, Belfast is ideal for students and young professionals. The Botanic and Cathedral Quarter areas rival each other over thriving bars and lively clubs. Laverys have slightly over-priced drinks but the many pool tables and layout of the bar is worth it. Restaurants within and around Belfast are beautifully varied and the food itself of high quality yet reasonably well priced. "Made In Belfast" do the best fish and chips! High Street and the Victoria Square centre offer a range of shopping experiences that suit everyone's tastes. Belfast has a few thrift and vintage stores dotted around the city that are fantastic for finding those hidden gems.

Very vibrant, up and coming city. Lots to do as a visitor. I love going to the bars such as Parlour and Cukoo and really enjoy nights clubs such as Ollies and Speak easy in the students union. Victoria Square is a must for shopping, some amazing high street shops but also designer brands. Really lovely places to eat in and around Victoria Square also.

Variety of different nightclubs to choose from, shopping is all very close together so no walking long distances to get from one end to the other.

good variety of shops, restaurants and bars, however nightclubs are limited with only a number of them having cheapish nights. not a wide range of music in them either, mostly pop with the odd techno.

As a city with 2 universities in it, a night out in Belfast is always guaranteed to be good. With drink promotions on basically every night of the week, drinks are always a good price.

Shopping and nights out are rather good but the transport is awful. Be sure to have a lift preorganised after a night out. Food and value for money are rather good and there's loads of places to choose from!

There's so many things to do in Belfast especially around the christmas period. Right now we have the Christmas markets which everyone is going round to, it is mostly food and drink which is fab but the best thing about them are the Dutch pancakes and steins. I don't have one uni friend who hasn't put up their insta of them holding a stein yet. Belfast is also home to many student bars and clubs which are very affordable and accommodating for students, most have one or two more popular nights where they have drink promos eg. lux have 'fat wednesdays' where they price shots at 90p!

Beer and gear is all you need for a wavy time in Belfast don't forget the quality food available both out and at the click of a finger

Much cheaper than other university cities, decent nightlife and friendly people. Good food, decent shopping and many nightlife spots. Only major downfall is the public transport which is behind a lot of the other cities. However, for value for money, Belfast is great

Belfast has such a good atmosphere. Everyone is friendly, there is an endless variety of food to choose from, the nightlife is great with very good prices in many nightclubs and bars. The shopping (especially Victoria square) is very decent with more than enough shops to enjoy, and a coffee shop around every corner for when you're tired, the city itself is also not too big but not too small- so you won't be too tired walking around all day. It is just a great place to be!

Lots of pubs, clubs and bars. Victoria square and castle court along with many other shops. Christmas market has variety of independent food outlets and shops along with bars. Many places to go for food including independent and chain. Metro buses into town from outer town run regularly and at a good price.

Very cheap town to go out on brilliant value for money. Fantastic places to eat in castle court and great victotia square, small yet social town

The shopping is good, the nightlife is rubbish and all bars are the same, there are a lot of nice restaurants, rent is expensive

Belfast is a lovely, vibrant student city with a wonderful focus on food, milkshakes and full Irish fry ups being a speciality! Transport is never really an issue with everything being in walking distance and also the added excitement of flying home! The only downside is the nightlife, which compared to England is much more modest and finishes much earlier with clubs closing generally at 2am. I would however overall really recommend Belfast as a cheap and cheerful student city

Really nice restaurants, take-aways, shopping centres and even some good street entertainment. Belfast is booming, although my one gripe is that Belfast's Primark hasn't been touched and no progress is being made on rebuilding it. Apart from that, I love it here!
