#WellnessWednesday: Showing some self-kindness

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and this year the theme is kindness. Lockdown has been tough on everyone, and we know that even small acts of kindness can help to support the wellbeing of those around us.

But kindness isn't just about how you interact with others. At the moment, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with information about how to stay motivated, productive and live your best lockdown - but it’s important to give yourself a break.

Research shows that people who have high levels of self-kindness tend to deal with setbacks and challenges better than people who set their expectations too high. So try to treat yourself as you would a friend, and show some understanding that, right now, your best is good enough.

We spoke to Dr Fran at Fika to find out how you can show yourself some self-kindness today:

And here’s how Kaz is being kind to himself while trying to keep on top of his studies during lockdown:

Are you showing yourself enough kindness? What acts of self-kindness can help you stay mentally healthy? For more practical skills to stay motivated, physically active and mentally fit during COVID-19, visit the Fika app and check out the new Community feature.
