Results Day is around the corner and some of us are understandably nervous. Don't worry though, because you don't have to be. Follow these five steps to de-stress...
With Results Day just around the corner, it’s understandable to feel a bit apprehensive. It can sometimes feel like your whole life is hanging in the balance, but there are some great ways you can manage your anxiety. Here are our top five tips to help you manage stress and overcome uncertainty as you await those all-important results:
1. Get your zzzs
Sleep is essential as it helps to rebalance our mood and consolidate learning. Try to get a good night’s sleep by switching off all screens two hours before bed (no more late night scrolling!) and sticking to a regular bedtime.
2. Find your creative side
It takes just 45 minutes of a creative activity to reduce stress, so why not try painting, knitting or mindful colouring to bring down those anxiety levels.
3. Take your time
Slow down, try not to rush from one task to the next. Being ‘in the moment’ and focusing on what’s happening right now, not what might happen in the future, is very calming.
4. Make a plan
Prepare for every eventuality! Consider the best and worst case scenarios, and think about how you can make either situation a success. What can you do now to help manage all your options?
5. Don’t forget to breathe
For immediate stress relief, try to breathe slowly and deeply for just a few minutes to help you relax. Try out Fika's visualisation to guide your breathing and help you de-stress.
Above all, try to stay calm. Give our tips a go and, if you’re a Fika user, let us know how you got on in the Fika app’s Community feed. Fika has partnerships with 41 universities across the UK. For a list of Fika’s university partners, please click here.
