Spring is just around the corner. Why not change things up ready for the brighter, longer days?

The cold of winter is slowly coming to an end and the colourful buds of spring are emerging. With the days getting longer and warmer, sprucing up your student room with some colourful decorations is a great idea. Here are some suggestions:

Plants

Awaken your inner gardener with some flowers and plants this spring. They are great decorations that can last for years if properly taken care of. With adequate water and sunlight, houseplants can liven up a space for ages. Cacti make great starter plants, as little maintenance is required. If you struggle to keep plants alive, fake ones are a great alternative for busy students.

Light colours

Pillows and throws make cosy additions to any beds or sofas in a student room. In keeping with the season, buy items in pastel colours or floral prints. Using light colours in any room will help brighten up the atmosphere.

Wall art

Buying or even making your own spring-themed decorations is an inexpensive way to decorate a blank wall for spring. Before starting, check that your accommodation provider approves of wall decorations. If there are strict rules, buying a pinboard is the best way to personalise your space. Command hooks are great for hanging things without damaging the walls.

Fairy lights and candles

Fairy lights and candles are an excellent way to decorate student accommodation all year round and can be creatively altered for each season. Swap out your old Christmas scented candles for something floral and fruity. You could also hang some fairy lights above your bed or along shelves and surfaces to instantly add the warmth of spring into your room.

Hanging decorations

Hanging decorative items such as flowers, leaves, and shells is a creative way to make your room feel like spring. An easy and inexpensive way to do this at home is to use a bouquet of dried or plastic flowers and tie them together with a colourful ribbon. Hang this decoration in a blank, central area to brighten it up. Looking at Pinterest and other sites for similar DIY projects is a fun way to add a unique and personal flair to your room.
