Make the most of the sunny weather this summer with these fun activities.

Summer's finally here, which means it's time to get out and enjoy yourself. There's so much to do now that bars, festivals and events are back up and running this year. There’s even lots to do right on your doorstep: here are just six things you could get up to over Summer:

A glass of wine at a picnic

Have a picnic

Picnics are a great way of catching up with friends and family. Why not have one in your back garden or at the park?

You could turn your picnic into a potluck by asking everyone to bring some drinks and food with them. Then you’ll have a variety of exciting dishes to choose from.

Make your picnic Instagram-worthy by choosing a colourful blanket or tablecloth to lay your food on. You could also use brightly coloured paper plates and cups.

Scavenger hunt

For a fun day out, get together with your friends and organise a scavenger hunt. It's a great way to explore your area or a new location.

Choose a theme for your scavenger hunt and use Google Maps to find locations like shops, parks, or pubs.

DIY Crazy golf course

If you've got friends around, you can make your own crazy golf course in your back garden. Why not make it a party by putting on some music, wearing fancy dress and having a few drinks.

It's really easy to arrange; all you need are some golf clubs, golf balls, and cups. Use household items as obstacles and make props using any paper or card you have lying around. You can also choose a theme for your course, like jungle golf or Disney.

Have a BBQ

It wouldn't be summer without a BBQ. Whether you’re a domestic goddess or someone who specialises in beans on toast, you’ll still be able to make something quick and easy that will taste delicious. Get creative by checking Pinterest and Instagram for some inspiration.

Make things easier by organising with your friends to decide who’s bringing which food and refreshments. One person could be in charge of salad and drinks, while someone else could bring dessert.

Cocktail Party

Relax in your garden and enjoy the summer evening by playing some music and having a cocktail party

Cocktail parties are a fun and cheap alternative to going out. Lower the cost of ingredients by finding a few recipes on Pinterest that use similar ingredients. Ask everyone to bring some spirits or mixers with them to spread the cost.

Try making mocktails if you don't want to drink alcohol. There are so many to try, and they taste just as good, if not better, than cocktails.

Go to a local event

With restrictions lifted, there are lots of festivals and outdoor events to go to, and some of them might be right on your doorstep.

Summer is a great time to check out what's happening in your local area. Follow local organisations and businesses on social media to stay in the loop about any events happening nearby.

Head to your local pub or bar, or go for a walk to see if you can spot any live music venues. I've stumbled across events me, and my friends didn't know about while out walking.

These are just some of the things you can do to spice up the rest of your summer. Whatever you end up doing, just make sure you enjoy yourself!
