Look after yourself and your friends on your next night out with these essential safety tips.

We all missed nightlife during Covid. Everyone needs to go out and let loose every once in a while. Nonetheless, it’s important that everyone is able to feel safe to enjoy their night. With that being said, here are some Student Hut tips on how to look after your friends when you go out:

Stick together

When you’re out, try and always stay with your friends. Don’t leave anyone on their own. If you’re planning to go somewhere else, make sure to let your friends know and take someone with you if possible. Getting lost in a crowd is easy, so planning a meeting spot is a good idea.

Make sure you have enough phone battery to keep in touch. Apps like Find My Friends can be handy for keeping track of each other.

Plan how you’ll be getting home in advance

Make sure everyone in your group has a safe route home and don’t leave anyone behind when the night’s over. Try arranging a lift before you go out. You can split a taxi or Uber with friends to lower the cost of travelling there and back.

Don’t forget to text your group when you get home so everyone can have a good night’s sleep.

Don’t go too overboard with the booze

Going out and getting hammered is fun, but you have to be careful. Avoid drinking to the point of being paralytic and always keep an eye on your drinks. Don’t let yourself or your friends accept any drinks from strangers either. Also, remember to eat something before you go out. Lining your stomach will help you to handle your alcohol.

Take precautions

Before going out, make sure to charge your phone and bring some emergency funds with you in case they’re needed. Try to stay responsible and be aware of your surroundings. Your group’s safety should be paramount, so everyone can have a good time.

Keep these tips in mind to ensure everyone has an enjoyable night out. Whatever you do though, just remember to enjoy yourself!
