These handy appliances can make a great addition to your uni kitchen. Here are just some of the reasons to buy an air fryer.

A lot of new kitchen gadgets can seem like fads or gimmicks. But this isn’t the case with air fryers. Here are a few reasons to consider buying one for your uni digs:

Faster and healthier

Many ovens can take ages to just warm up, let alone cook the food. With an air fryer, you don’t need to preheat. You can just chuck the food in and start cooking straight away. Because of how it works, it will cook most things quicker than a traditional oven.

Things you can deep fry need significantly less oil to achieve similar results with an air fryer. This can be great if you’re wanting to improve your diet. You don’t need to sacrifice good taste in order to be healthier.

Both of these factors make it a more environmentally friendly option than an oven. Less empty space to waste energy on heating up, and less oil to dispose of. It could even save you money on your bills.

The crispiest chips

Have you ever been disappointed by homemade chips? Sometimes, they don’t quite cook right and end up soggy. Air fryers can give you reliably crispy chips with only a teaspoon of oil. Simply cut some potatoes into chips and cook for 20 minutes at 190 degrees celsius. The only thing to watch out for is filling the fryer up too much. Just make sure not too many of the chips are touching, and you’ll be amazed by the results. This also works with frozen oven chips.

Tip: if you like them particularly fluffy on the inside, boil for ten minutes before putting them in the air fryer and take five minutes off the frying time.

Easy to clean

There’s nothing more daunting than cleaning out an oven. The harsh chemicals and the time for the racks to soak can make it a horrible experience. An air fryer is much simpler to clean. The basket usually has a non-stick coating and can fit into the sink to be easily washed up. It’s especially quick if you clean it after every use.

Multitasking

Sometimes you may want to make a meal using ingredients with different cooking times or temperatures. Using your air fryer to cook one thing at one temperature and your oven to make something else at another can ease the stress of cooking complex meals.

Accessories

Many air fryer brands sell additional accessories. This could include muffin trays, cake tins, pizza pans, or racks allowing you to cook multiple items at once. There are some great deals available for packs of multiple accessories too. If buying components from a different brand to your fryer, check they’re the right size before buying. Customise your appliance to what you’ll actually use it for.
