Looking for something to do as a student in Hull? Here are our top recommendations for this historic city.

In Hull, there’s something to do for everyone. From museum trips to a late night soft play centre adventure, here are five fun things to do in Hull:

Lost city adventure golf

A reasonably new addition to the city, Lost City Adventure Golf opened up in 2020. The venue is made up of two 18 hole golf courses with a rainforest theme. There are interactive features throughout, including towering rock faces, interesting obstacles, and a 20 ft alligator.

There is also a Tiki bar on site serving freshly made pizza and a wide variety of drinks, including cocktails, mocktails, coffees, and slushies. There is a student deal available Monday to Thursday where you can play one course for £10.50, or upgrade to include a pizza and drink for just £15.

Adult Night at Big Fun

A favourite with students in Hull is the Adult Night at Big Fun. Big Fun is one of the top soft play areas in the city, with huge slides, rope walkways, trampolines, and go-karts.

The Adult Night happens every Friday from 8-10 and is just £7.95 to get in. The bar is open for the duration of the evening, and drinks are BOGOF for the first hour. The double vodka slushies are always a hit.

Museums Quarter

The Museums Quarter is an area of Hull with a number of different museums, including Wilberforce House and the Streetlife Museum. Wilberforce House is the birthplace of William Wilberforce, a campaigner against the slave trade. The museum tells the story of the transatlantic slave trade and its abolition.

Next up is the Streetlife Museum which is a museum of transport. It houses a collection of motor cars, horse-drawn carriages, and bicycles and you can even walk down a 1940s high street.

The great thing about the museums in Hull is that they are all free to visit, which makes for a great day out when the student loan is running low.

The Deep

The Deep is an award-winning aquarium. It’s home to many interesting aquatic animals like sharks, turtles, penguins, and the UK’s only pair of Green Sawfish. The most exciting feature is a viewing tunnel and glass lift that goes through the ocean tank and allows you to see all the fish up close.

All this is available for just £16.75 with a student card. The best part is that you can return as many times as you want within 12 months free of charge with each ticket.

Hull Fair

This only happens once a year, but it’s such a big event for the city that we couldn’t leave it out. Hull Fair is one of the largest travelling fairs in Europe and comes to Hull every October.

Hull Fair

The fair features over 250 rides, from classic dodgems and waltzers to hair-raising roller coasters. There are 100 stalls with activities like darts, hook-a-duck, and palm reading. They have great food options, including hamburgers, German sausages, hog roasts, and the Hull cult-favourite Bob Carvers serving up awesome fresh fish, patties, and chips.
