Get your sunnies on and sign up for the best three years of your life, with one of these wonderful seaside universities.

As June rolls around and everyone questions where the year has gone, it’s time to get excited for an extra-long summer holiday. Between our four-month quarantine and May’s bad weather keeping us from enjoying our newfound freedoms, we’ve all missed being out in nature. What better way to enjoy the rest of summer than a trip to the beach?

If you love the sea and you’re still unsure about where to study next year, check out our list of the best seaside universities for some inspiration:

Bournemouth University

Situated in Dorset, on the south coast of England, Bournemouth University is just a stone’s throw away from some stunning UK coastline. Bournemouth students enjoy the best of both worlds, with sandy beaches and a lively city to boot.

Swansea University

While Swansea may be renowned for its crazy nightlife, its beaches are recognised as some of the best in the country. You’re spoiled for choice: Swansea Bay, a short 10 minutes away, is great for watersports, while keen rock poolers should check out Bracelet Bay.

If you’re a keen surfer, you should make it your personal mission to ride some crisp waves half an hour out of town, at Rhossili Bay.

University of Sussex

This university is located in Brighton, a city which is home to world class nightlife and one of the UK’s most-loved beaches. For the days when it’s not sunny enough to go to the beach, you can always kill hours in the city’s beautiful Lanes.

University of St Andrews

Famous for being the meeting place of Will and Kate, St Andrews boasts far more than just golf courses and beautiful historic buildings. It also has three sandy beaches, with West Sands providing a luscious backdrop to some exquisite sunsets.

Castle Sands is another students’ favourite, but many believe that East Sands is the place to be. From walks along the pier, to water sports and bonfires, this is the perfect beach for you to make some amazing summer memories.

University of Exeter

While Exeter may not stand out as a beachy university, the 20-minute train journey to Exmouth beach gives it a deserving spot on this list. During the summer, most students make the most of the opportunity to throw their revision cards up in the air and hit up the beach.

The University of Exeter has a campus in sunny Truro, so you’re sure to be a stone’s throw from some wonderful coastline wherever you end up.

Don’t forget the sun cream this summer! To truly make the most of these rays, check out our list of adventures to go on this summer too.
