Stuck on what to do this Halloween to make an epic night of it? For those who love to stay in, to those who want to go out, we've got it covered.

University campuses around Halloween are great places to be; if you’re heading out then you’re likely to see quirky costumes, sports groups dressed the same, copious amounts of drinking and a whole lot of pumpkins. And if you’re staying in, you’re sure to find a group who would much rather eat pumpkin pie and watch Scooby-Doo. After all, Halloween is what you make of it so get ready for an epic night with these fun and spooky ideas. Whether you are working with your student budget or want to splash out on a night to remember, this is your ultimate guide to celebrating Halloween as a student.

1. Hit up a theme park

Nothing will make you scream more than a rollercoaster, which makes a trip to the theme park perfect for Halloween. Even better, most theme parks host fright nights in October for an even scarier experience! Find out how to get your hands on Alton Towers tickets for just £20

2. Go wild at a house party

It’s the beginning of term, so there are still plenty of opportunities to socialise. Host a party with a dress code, themed drinks and some DIY decorations. Why not cover the house in fake cobwebs, hang fake bats and eyeballs from the ceiling and get everyone to add to your spooky Spotify playlist for an unforgettable night?

3. Join a bar crawl

Find the spookiest bars and visit them all. Whether you’re hitting up the most haunted pubs in your town, or simply the ones with the best deals on drinks, you’re sure to have a great night out with your mates. The only thing scarier will be the hangover the next day.

4. Do some Halloween baking

Whether you’re a novice baker or about to apply to The Great British Bake Off, decorate cookies with pumpkins, skulls and spiders, make chocolate rice treats with melted marshmallows to look like mummies or cobwebs, or even a ‘bloody’ red velvet cake to wow your housemates.

5. Bring out your inner child by carving pumpkins

This is a classic Halloween activity and will never get old.

6. Stay at a haunted hotel

If you’ve got the budget to spend the night away from your student accommodation, why not check out one of the most haunted hotels in the UK?

7. Host a horror movie marathon

For a more chilled out and budget-friendly night, host a spooky movie marathon. Think Hocus Pocus, Scooby-Doo, Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Or, for those a little more daring, try out some horror films that will leave you truly petrified

8. Go to the theatre

Watch a creepy play like Phantom of the Opera, The Woman in Black or the Cursed Child.

9. Go to a Halloween bonfire

Who said bonfires were reserved for 5 November? Bonfires are the best places to sit around and tell scary stories, eat s’mores and spend time with your friends.

10. Go on a ghost tour

Most cities offer these all year round but you’ll be spoilt for choice in October. Google what’s on in your area and discover its gory past!
