1. The End of the F***ing World

A dark British teen drama about a self-diagnosed psychopath who pretends to fall in love with an angsty teen is actually more endearing than it sounds. With only eight episodes that each run just twenty minutes, you’ll fly through this show in one sitting, eager to find out how it all ends.

2. BoJack Horseman

A show about a human-like horse who is a washed-up star of a ‘90s sitcom? I’m sold! This animated series is dark and definitely not for kids but will sure to have you in stitches as BoJack tries to reclaim his dignity.

3. MINDHUNTER

In this chilling thriller enter the world of the FBI as you delve into the criminal profiling of some truly horrible characters, including versions of real interviews conducted with serial killers. This dark show is certain to keep you on the edge of your seat.

4. Reign

A show full of bloodshed and heartbreak, this romantic historical drama following the young Mary, Queen of Scots, is a wild ride from start to finish. Whilst it’s not necessarily historically accurate, the show features great characters with a strong female lead and will keep you hooked until the last minute.

5. Arrested Development

Considering this show first aired in 2003, nowhere near enough people have seen it. It follows the eccentric Bluth family after the main character’s father is sent to prison. With a cast boasting comedic names such as Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett and David Cross the show is a wild ride of hilarity. (We’re still waiting for that season five).

6. Archer

The second adult cartoon to feature on this list, Archer follows a dysfunctional group of secret agents. Confusion, betrayal and just generally screwing each other over are regular occurrences. This incredibly quotable show will leave you in stitches and with eight seasons to get through, there’s plenty of Archer to go around!

7. Freaks and Geeks

This 90s show set in the 80s was cancelled after only one season but don’t let that put you off. Featuring a cast of a young Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segel, the story of a high school geek becoming a ‘freak’ is full of laugh out loud moments and will leave you wanting more.

8. Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments

The characters battle demons, werewolves, vampires, and look damn good whilst doing it. This show contains high energy fight scenes as well as plenty of relationship drama - everyone’s guilty pleasure!

9. Grimm

This supernatural detective drama has everything from dramatic plot twists, scary monsters and cute relationships. It's quirky, full of fun characters and is great for casual watching. Plus, the added bonus of David Giuntoli as the lead *swoon*.

10. The Sinner

Adapted from a bestselling novel, this thriller follows the story of a young mother who commits a murder. The series unfolds as you learn why she did it in a ‘whydunnit’ fashion. Although it may be a little slow to begin with, the payoff is definitely worth it and you’ll be left itching for season two.
